When my little boy was younger he would come off the boob and sleep which I was told showed he was satisfied He's now 4 weeks and 1 day and only does this of a day time now. Evening to nighttime through to day hes constantly on and off, wanting more and crying , sometimes it's more he just wants to suckle for comfort x

biggest stressor for me as well, i usually will just latch my son back on if he falls off, if he’s distracted/ not interested but also not fussy afterwards then i assume he’s had a good feed. my baby is hungry and impatient, sometimes he’ll empty my breasts and unlatch before another let down, i think he’s full and then he’s crying 3 min later. but i’ll always just re-latch on the breast i started with and then switch to the other. after a while i can predict how good his feed was because i know how long he’ll usually feed for, which for us right now is 6-8 min each side

Is she having enough pee and poo diapers in a day? Is she gaining weight? If both of these are yes, she's getting enough. You might also see her looking milk drunk at times :) I used to check her fontanelle as well to make sure it's not sunken; if it's sunken it means they're dehydrated = not feeding enough 😊

@Shannon yeah that’s exactly what she does is come off and then fall asleep so based on that i guess she is full but like i said she starts screaming her head off a little afterwards so maybe she’s colicky :/ our night feeds are great though she eats and goes back to sleep easy just during the day she screams constantly

@kaylee yes it stresses me out a little bit lol she was really scheduled for a few days and now it’s like that’s gone out the window lol i should pay attention to how long i have her latched for i would think 10+ minutes but i have never timed it so im gonna start doing that

Basically just keep offering, if they take it they can eat. If they don’t then they’re full! Especially when they’re super young they need to cluster feed to get your supply up and their tummy is only tiny so they need to eat quite often! It definitely gets easier as you go but the next few weeks will be all about baby feeding to regulate your supply! As long as they’re having plenty of wet and dirty nappies you’re golden x

@Emily she has TONS of poop diapers lol pee is less but she’s a pooping machine 😂 we go back to the pediatrician april 1st but i would guess she’s gaining weight. and yes she does look milk drunk sometimes im just stressed that for some reason she’s not eating enough and thats why she’s crying but from what has been said it seems like she’s fed 🤷‍♀️ and i had no idea abt the fontanelle! i cant see her soft spot because she has SO much hair but thats such good advice thank you!!

@Skye ya she’s only a week old so i’ll keep doing the same and offering. thank you so much!! 😊

If their body relaxes. Usually their fists will open or be easy to open or they’ll fall asleep

@Annie mine is the other way around 🙈 fine in the day and nkt at night. My health visitor said he could possibly be a little colicy but as ungrateful as i sound that didn't help as there isn't anything that can be done to help colic. Hopefully they'll both feed properly again soon without the screaming🤞 x

@Shannon yeah call me ungrateful too then 😂😂 i’m just waiting until she’s old enough to try gripe water and see if that helps at all 🤷‍♀️

@Annie I haven't tried gripe water with him yet but my mam bought us some to try when needed. She said when we were younger she'd just dip our dummy in as we didn't need to full amount to help, so might be worth keeping in mind x

@Annie oh bless you both I didn’t realise she was only a week! Congratulations lovely!! Yeah just keep offering, I did the same with my so. And it worked a treat. I’ve now regulated and he doesn’t feed nearly as long as he used to as he’s so much better at it now! Good luck with everything 🥰 x

@Skye thank you! and okay sounds good 🤍🤍

When I was nursing my baby, if she fell asleep and didn’t wake up screaming when I put her down, I knew she was done. Also, she would fall asleep while nursing, but she’d wake up and turn her face away when she was full. I’d offer the breast again, but if she kept refusing I’d know she was full

@Sasha thank you for this 🤍

@Ciera okay yes! but then would she wake up when u burped her?? that always happens where she wakes up when i go to burp her and that’s when she starts screaming again

I never worried about them being “full” as newborn babies mostly always cluster feed to increase your milk supply so let her feed :)
