@Melissa you don’t wait till your boobs are very hard and full?
@Melissa thank you!
@Rachel no, you don't need to wait until you're engorged. You'll still have milk even if they don't feel as full. You will probably get the most milk from your morning pump, I always did. I'm not pumping a lot with my newborn since she's breastfeeding but I exclusively pumped for my first child for 12 months.
I been having latching issues so i pump every time she is hungry which is 3-4 hours i try to put her on the boob anytime i can and so far i beeb able to have a pitcher as well as a freezer stash
You shouldnt skip middle of the night feed or pump that is what will increase your supply the most
@Noelle try a nipple shield I just got one from a lactation consultant and it has helped with my babies latch significantly
@April Parra it didn’t work for me my nipple was very sore and hurt so badly 🥲
@Noelle I always get very engorged in the middle of the night. It hurts to feed her when it’s engorged. That’s why I pump before sleeping so I have milk in a bottle. Should I still feed her if it’s engorged?
@Rachel I had the same issue and was engorged due to his latch not being good so once it improved it did end up hurting me but applying the expressed breast milk onto the nipple helps it heal faster because my right nipple developed what looked like a blister but I’ve been applying nipple cream and breast milk hopefully it’s gets better soon but don’t give up I was told to pump exclusively if the pain is too much to bear
@Melissa the only reason I’m pumping is cause she has a hard time latching on my boobs and bruised it which makes my nipple a little bloody & sore. So I pump to give my nipples a break. 😟
@Melissa but I still hold back the pain and still breastfeed her!
@Rachel yes you shouldnt let it get engorged thats why middle of night feed is a must. Pump or nurse but dont let yourself get engorged i sometimes wake up engorged only when i skip 3am pump
@Noelle that’s the time she always wakes up 3am 😩 but okay! I definitely won’t let it get engorged
I breastfeed on demand, but 8-12 times a day is the official advice. Thats about every 2-3 hours. If you are exclusively pumping you need to pump as often as you would breastfeed, so at least 8 times a day about every 3 hours around the clock.
