Help

My 6 week old keeps eating. I pumped gave him 2.5 oz then breastfed him on the other side and then pumped that side and gave him an additional 1 oz. He then wanted more milk and I BF him again eventually I took out another 2 oz from my stash in the fridge. I’m feeling really devastated like I don’t have enough milk. When I pump I typically produce 3 oz per session but my baby is eating 4-5 oz at almost 2 months. Is this a growth spurt ? He was on my breast for an hour. He ate all this not in one sitting it was within 4 hours. He also refused to sleep, eventually I got him to sleep this all happened between 3-7 pm. After 7 pm he sleeps for 3-4 hours.

It's definitely growth spurt time. All eat no sleep and it made me a very cranky momma. We are in the fourth trimester aka the newborn trenches. You are not alone, we all are going thru it.

Hi! My 6 week old has been eating nonstop as well. I’ve heard about the 6w growth spurt so that’s what I’m assuming this is. He’s been eating all day and hasn’t slept much today which is odd for him, but I’m hoping he catches up on that sleep tonight. Don’t get down on yourself for thinking you’re not producing enough! You’re doing great!

Your body needs a few days to respond to the increased demand for milk. Keep doing what you're doing with pumping and breast feeding. Side note, I used formula sometimes when my baby was insatiable and I had no breast milk to give her, it typically happens between 10pm and 12am at night. My baby doubled her weight from month 1 to month 2.

Same here 🙋🏼‍♀️ my 4 week old is already at 4 oz bottles. He has a witching hour in the evening where he eats nonstop for like 3 hours. We’ll give him a bottle, he gulps it down like he hasn’t eaten in months, and then screams when it’s empty. We try everything in between thinking it could be gas, dirty diaper, etc. but the only thing that settles him is more formula. We called our pediatrician thinking this wasn’t normal but was told it is, and he is likely just having a growth spurt / eating more bc he’s a bigger baby.
