Big boob bra recommendations/over supply help

So pre-pregnancy I was about a 40E, now I'm 5 days PP with a massive oversupply and I'm at a loss Baby is already back above birth weight so definitely eating well. I pumped yesterday to relieve pressure and with 5mins per side got 130ml (my boobs were like rocks and even touching them made milk come out. The relief was so great I did it again today but I really don't want to encourage MORE milk, what should I do? Also with my boobs being so heavy the nursing bras I have aren't able to hold my boobs up so I'm getting a sore under boob from wearing them day and night (I wear at night to stop me leaking everywhere) any recommendations on what to wear when? (UK based) Sounds so stupid but add this to the rest of my body changes and c section recovery it's getting me down 😪 all help appreciated!

Had same struggle following delivery. i found the momcozy nursing bras and pumping bras to be really good. They do have big sizes. It’s a bit pricey😊

I know bravissimo do big sizes for bigger boobed gals, on there website they even have a ‘Nursing and Maternity section’ ranging from D to J cup! They’re pricey compared to say Primark/general shops but if they’re comfortable and work for you i think they’re decent price xx

I would suggest hand expressing or using a hand pump to only express enough for relief

I ordered some bras from Hotmilk lingerie. https://www.hotmilklingerie.co.uk/collections/larger-busts Pricey but good bras. I was a H cup before pregnancy so you can only imagine what they’re looking like now 😂 I also found the XL CK maternity bra quite comfy too x

36HH pre pregnancy, 38J during early breastfeeding, now back to pre pregnancy size 5 months in. Have you measured yourself? Just that 40E is not that big, that size means each boob is only 3 inches sticking out of your chest. You may well be a different size, I can help with how to measure if you like? Just that your profile picture doesn't make me believe you're a 40 back that's all! As for the oversupply, it's normal to have one in the early days, your body doesn't know how much to make so to be on the safe side it just goes into over drive. Try not to pump, just hand express a little bit to relieve some of the pressure. It's horrible but it does settle down in a few weeks 💗

It is normal to have an oversupply and boobs to be engorged/ heavy after your supply has come in. As you say pumping will make the problem worse if you are already breastfeeding on demand because you are telling your boobs to make more milk. If they are too painful and baby doesn't need to feed you could try hand expressing a bit off, a hot shower can provide some relief. They will settle down over the next few weeks as your supply regulates to baby's needs. And this does mean going down to a more manageable size too. I'm 6 weeks pp with my second baby and when my supply first came in my nursing bras I wore the first time were very tight but are now fitting again. Because of this I wouldn't necessarily suggest measuring or buying bras now as they may not fit you still as your breast size changes. At night I hate wearing bras, you could try a nursing vest, the kind with in built support as they also hold the breast pads in. You won't always leak so you will be able to go without when the leaking stops.

@Charley I could probably do with being measured again, if not a 40 would be a 38, my profile photo is early pregnancy.. Any assistance you could give me measuring would be greatly appreciated as I won't be able to get to a store to be measured for a while x

@Sophie have you got a tape measure? It's pretty easy to measure at home! Wrap the tape around your chest under your boob crease, get it right up in there 😂 pull it really really tight (remember bras have elastic and tape measures don't so don't worry about it being too tight). Make a note of the number in inches, if it's odd then round up to the nearest even number. Then wrap the tape measure around the fullest part of your boobs, don't compress anything, don't squeeze at all, just let it rest. Make a note of the number in inches. Then subtract your under bust measurement from your over bust measurement. This will give you your cup size as follows: 1=A 2=B 3=C 4=D 5=DD 6=E 7=F 8=FF 9=G 10=GG 11=H 12=HH (There's no i) 13=J 14=JJ and so on....

Most people are in a band size that's way too big and a cup size that's too small. You might be surprised by the size but give it a try! Maternity and nursing bras also have a lot of hooks so they are more adjustable in size so that's helpful. New bras should be on the loosest hooks but for new maternity or nursing bras aim for the middle hooks as your ribcage still has some movement to do post birth. When you put a bra on with a bigger cup size it can seem strange at first, you need to scoop your boob up and plop in in the cups, whereas before in a larger band size some of your boob will have been sitting round the side under your armpit squashed into the band.

Bravado do big sizes, can buy them in a few places like Amazon. At night I wear like a ballet top so can still wear breast pads but easily whip out a boob for feeding

I was similar at that stage with both of my babies. It does settle down though, and your supply will adjust, so try not to worry about it too much (I know that's easier said than done). For bras I'd try and get fitted at Bravissimo if you can. They have a good selection of nursing bras and their fitters are really good. I had a few hotmilk ones which were really pretty but not very supportive, but I think it varies depending on the model. Once baby is a little older you might prefer to go back to normal bras and just fold the cup down. Plunge bras tend to work well. I found them more supportive and made me feel more 'normal'

I recommend the Elomi Molly Nursing Bra. I’ve been breastfeeding for over 3 years non stop and it’s the only bra I’ll wear. I’ve tried many others but always end up returning them and ordering another Elomi one. The only downside is the lace part doesn’t last but I think it’s worth it for how comfortable they are. I wear 34J
