Advice, help, reassurance, information please!

Hi all, I had my recent smear test result back and it says hpv positive! They tests for abnormal cells but came back fine. This is my second smear and my first one after my baby who is 9 months old. I’m freaking out, what do I need to do now? Do I need to speak to my doctors? I’ve got to re smear next year which I get but I had a really traumatic birth and feel so conscious about my body and down below so cried through it, the nurse was really reassuring she just said my cervix was sitting quite high… Did people have any symptoms? The only thing I’d say is it has been painful during sex but not every time, but not sure if it’s due to me feel conscious/tense/recovering -the pain or it’s the hpv. Any support would be appreciated, thank you!

Do you have viginal warts ?

@A nope, I’ve not got any

I have had hr hpv 4 years. Ultimately it led to a hysterectomy. My symptoms though were painful sex and bleeding after sex. Now. This could have been due to the parakeratosis or the acute and chronic cervicitis that I also had. If there are no abnormal cells then you wouldn't have anything for them to biopsy and they generally just take a wait and see approach for cin 1 and no abnormal cells unless they decide to do a colposcopy and biopsy. Your body can clear the hpv and make it go dormant though so they usually try to see if your body will heal it.
