Anyone's babies take longer to smile?

If so when did they start and did you do anything to encourage it? I'm not worried but would love to get her smiling ☺️

I can’t remember when he started but he’s 10 weeks now wakes up happy and smiling but he loves it if I sit and talk to him then he smiles back at me and chats away with his little noises

mine was about 7 weeks

Mine didn't take longer but here's some things we do to get smiles. Just got right in his face and started talking while smiling, sticking my tongue out and pulling shocked faces, like wide eyed. Especially during nappy changes, we just get silly. My little boy also loves mirror time where me or hubby hold him outwards up to our full length mirror and he smiles so much, just chat to him and bounce him around while he looks at us. I hope you get some big gummy smiles soon! She might be working on a different developmental thing like discovering her hands or holding her head up more so don't get too disheartened, every baby learns things at different rates or orders 🖤

Mines first smile was week one but that was stroking her hair whilst she fell asleep. As for dishing them out to people it was week five to six.

9 weeks here and it took some good face to face time just having chats in the high chair. She doesn’t smile loads still at 12 weeks but I’ve noticed she doesn’t it the most after a feed and when I make eye contact with her

My little boy only started smiling at 9 weeks! I was really worried as everyone else I knew was around 6/7 weeks but he did it in his own time 🥰 he’s now 10 weeks and smiles soooo much!!! Lots of eye contact, talking, making faces and sounds to encourage smiles 😍 and getting really close to their face! X

My baby girl smiled at other people a lot more than me to start, apparently they are more interesting/something new. So perhaps try with family members.

My LO was doing lots of smiles but unsure if they were gas until she was 6wk when she smiled at silly faces, high pitched voices and bouncing got her to giggle at 7wk but getting her hand to bop my nose.

@Sarah same here!
