We do bath, into night clothes, bf singing some songs and then a book and into cot. I bf my older daughter to sleep until about 9mo when it was clear it was resulting in more night wakings. When I stopped bf to sleep she started sleeping through. My youngest does still wake but not til at least 4am (down about 6:45pm), and has a quick feed then back to sleep. So in short, I'd recommend not feeding to sleep if you are looking to improve night sleep xx
My LG often does fall asleep whilst feeding for her last feed but then we brush her teeth and she is very much awake after that, she hates it! Then we put her down and sing twinkle twinkle.
Hiya! What makes you think breastfeeding to sleep doesn't help the situation? There's actually research that suggests breastfeeding mum's get the most sleep! And feeding to sleep and back to sleep in the night is the biological norm, that's what is supposed to happen, so the idea that is isn't helping, is honestly a little bizarre. You can look at other things around babies sleep hygiene. Their daytime sleep and bedtime routines are the main things to consider, along with the conditions of their sleep space. Obviously if you wish to stop feeding to sleep that's fine and your choice. As a side note it also isn't recommended to night wean before 18 months (baby naturally sleeping through is fine) as many babies still require the calories from over night feeds, along with the additional benefits it provides, especially when unwell and/or teething. There's also very little evidence that night weaning affects overall sleep habits. X
I’ve recently just switched his last feed to a bottle of formula but pre that I’d feed him downstairs 30 mins before bedtime in normal light. We don’t bath every night but I’d do it before or after dependent on timings of how close to bedtime his bath was
