thank you thank you sooo much for all these positive points! im so glad to hear it worked out for your family & i’m hoping for the same for us. how old were your kiddos when you went back to work? @Elizabeth
10 weeks with my first one, and will go back at 4 months with my second. They are only 13 months apart lol so taking some extra time to heal with the second :-) no regrets here!
I fully agree with what Elizabeth said! I was a SAHM for my 3 kids until I became a single mom and had to figure it out. My kids were a bit older at ages 2, 3, and 5 when I started working though, so I know the situation feels different with a baby. I was low income and had to utilize childcare assistance payments until my income was bumped up a bit, but I had amazing experiences at a few different facilities. My kids thrived in a dual language program and their social skills improved so much. At the time, my 3 year old was undiagnosed ADHD and Autistic, but now that we know about that, I'm even more thankful he had more social and educational experiences early on. As for me, working gave me so much more purpose and identity outside of being a mom. I adore being a mom, but sometimes I felt like I wasn't capable of anything else since that's all I had done for 5 years. Going back to work helped me have my own time to myself, social time, and built my confidence in my own abilities.
oh wow that’s tough, i am glad that it worked out well for the kids and you as well. i agree i think having more purpose apart from being a mom is good! @Marissa
It helped them and our family get into a better routine/schedule; helped them (and I guess me too lol) with socialization; helped me mentally to have ‘me time’ ; allowed me to continue pursuing my professional career which I get lots of joy from; I didn’t want grandparents watching babies because it would be difficult from a boundaries standpoint, so it helped prevent that; with me working my husband doesn’t feel like it’s ’all on him’ to provide financially….i could keep going lol. But daycare and returning to work, worked for our family!
