@Parker 又 Surprisingly effective 🤔
Ask your gp for mefenamic acid tablets - that was the only thing that helped me x
Exactly my reaction the first time
@Fay Mefenamic and tranexamic acid didn't do anything years ago but I might request a retrial of them
CBD oil helps me on the odd occasion x
When I had bad period pain. I smoked weed but I also took vitex it’s meant to help period pain aka chasteberry I also switched over to period cups 100% better than tampons and pads but I would used liners to protect undies and sometimes pads for ending of period just cause the smaller cup would slip and slide and I didn’t like the feeling 😭. I got a whole period kit from pixie cup on Amazon for under 50$ also get the steamer for your period cup. You’ll thank me later.
@Liv I was on CBD oil for ages for anxiety and didn't notice any difference at all. Was a high quality bottle of it that cost about 60 quid and it had 0 effect
@Celinee Period cups made the pain so much more intense. I have adeno though which can cause pain during sex so I think it was the pressure triggering it ☹ I really wanted to get on with the cup because I can bleed for so long that I get blisters from pads so I have to use one specific type and then change to reusable pads when I start getting sore but they don't absorb the thicker blood very well so I can't use them all the time 😭
Speak to your doctor because my mother in law was recently telling my sister in law that there are options (heavy painful periods run in their family) and my mother in law had a procedure in college to help alleviate the heaviness and pain. I didn’t delve into this because it’s my MIL and felt uncomfortable but definitely speak to your doctor because it seems options are out there!
Ice pack instead of hot water bottle
@Shevy I'm gonna try and get a pin review done because after pregnancy it's all coming back increasingly worse each time. Unfortunately mine is incurable except by hysterectomy so it's more about symptom control :(
@Hannah is that to reduce blood flow to lower the pain or is there another reason it might work? I've always used heat to reduce symptoms
If heroin is good enough for decades of use by RFK Jr, I don't see why we should get sub par pain relief!
Tbh I don't no why but its always worked for me

@Raqi It's an opiate so technically it's just codeine and morphine but better 😂
I'd recommend a heat band. They can be worn under clothing and have a massage setting.
I was looking at those today! https://amzn.eu/d/fCcMIbI This was the one amazon recommended but I wasn't sure if it was any good and the temp goes from 40-65⁰c so I wasn't sure if it would be hot enough
Try some gentle exercise that usually helps me
@Poppy Always had that recommended but it's the squirming on the sofa/floor kinda pain and sometimes the screaming/vomiting kinda pain. I try and wander round and use an exercise ball between "contractions" though
Thc is good for pain relief, especially oils
@Holly Tried that throughout college, for some reason it made my pain 10 times worse
Have you tried acupuncture? X
@Holly Not with my needle phobia 😬 I'd flat out cry and scream
The needle doesn't penetrate more than the first layer of your skin usually,so it's not painful...it just feels similar to someone flicking your skin x
😌 something like this might be helpful: also if you’ve got any Chinese herbalists (or Caribbean herbalists too) near you it’s definitely worth paying them a visit, & having a chat! https://www.instagram.com/reel/DFTjeAOOIc_/?igsh=dHY0ZG0xcG5reW02
@Holly I know it's not deep and that the needles are super thin and everything but I just can't do it 😬 It's a full blown scream, cry and panic attack situation with them
@Parker 又 I don't have instagram so I can't see it :(
Here’s a direct link to their shop (: https://theeasternphilosophy.com/collections/womens-health/womenhealth
So it’s temporary relief but it does actually help; squeeze your left pinky toe on the sides of where your toenail sits. I learned about this trick when I was like 14 and it’s a go to for me. Again it’s not really long term relief but some relief at least
