Where are you laboring?

Hey ladies! I’m interested in seeing if you have decided whether you want to labor at the hospital, at home, or a birthing center and why? I had a hospital birth with my first child and it didn’t go the best. I’m in the midst of finding a doula and midwife for a home birth. Kind of nervous about the level of pain lol but I really would like to experience a home water birth. Also feel free to share your stories about past labor experience or advice!

I’m so sorry your experience wasn’t the greatest for your first time! For me, I’ll be doing another hospital birth, my first was in the hospital. My life and my baby’s life is too important to me to risk anything happening at home and not having what we need the second we need it.

You should always labor outside of the hospital as long as possible even if you plan on delivering there!! Getting admitted early on in labor will only increase the chances of unnecessary interventions being pushed on you to speed up your labor. I totally support you in finding a midwife and doula to birth at home or at a birth center 🤍 I had both of my babies in a hospital. First was a bad experience (ended in c section), second was a good experience (VBAC) and if I have another id really like to have it at a birth center. A home birth is personally not for me because of my previous c-section and not living super close to a hospital in case of transfer. But I also know many people have had successful HBACs. It’s really up to you mama.

I had a hospital birth, and it went pretty much like planned, except we had to use vaccum. But I labored most of it at home/in the corridors of the hospital. This time, I'm doing the same plan, labor at home and coming to the hospital at the last second. I considered a birth center, but the one around me is too far, and the hospital is just 10 min away. Can't justify the long travel time with contractions.

I’m doing a hospital birth because it’s my first but I’ve done my research and will have my stepmom there to advocate for anything we want that’s on our birth plan. The hospital says they already do everything I’m requesting except they do active management with the placenta and I was hoping to wait and try to deliver it without intervention.

I’ve had all my babies in the hospital naturally no medication., but it’s best to labor at home for as long as possible. I labored at the hospital and ended up having to get induced with the last baby and it was HARD 🥹😮‍💨 but I managed lol I said this go around I’ll probably be pulling up to the hospital at a good 8-9cm

I’m laboring at my Midwife’s house in her birthing suite, 3 minutes away from hospital.

Birth center! It was a much better experience than my first hospital birth 😊

I highly recommend the book Supernatural Childbirth by Jackie Mize! You can find it on Amazon, and it’s a great resource to help ease any worries you may have. For me, I’m planning on having a hospital birth with a midwife for our first baby. I’m trusting God for a pain-free and smooth experience. Some of our friends are preparing for a home birth this month with both a doula and midwife. They mentioned that insurance typically does not cover home births. The doula was about $6,000, I’m not sure about the midwife. I do know my friend is also planning to send her placenta to a facility to have it encapsulated for health benefits. There are definitely some great pros for home births! It all comes down to mindset. My friend has been using the ice cube trick and other deep breathing exercises to help with mind over matter during labor. 🤍

Hopefully mostly at home then a little at the hospital in a jetted bathtub lol
