I had a fab induction ☺️ Went in on the Friday midday, was induced with the gels. Baby was born 3pm on the Saturday after a 6 hour labour. Try to go in open minded and get as much rest before hand x
I had a pessary inserted. A pessary is like a shoe string (tampon like) which they usually leave in 24 hours to work. It feels like a burning sensation (not that bad but uncomfortable when inserted) Within 9 hours, I was having contractions and ready to have waters broken (2cm they said could break waters) I had to wait as labour ward was full. I had waters broken the next day and my labour progressed without needing to have the hormonal drip. I gave birth vaginally evening of having waters broken❤️ Everyones experiences will be different some good and some bad but its important to remember that every labour experience even without the need to be induced have good and bad experiences. You cant plan labour. Enjoy the time before in active labour and try to relax as much as possible x
All depends on the type of method they use for the induction and if your body responds to the synthetic way of dilating you. I hope it goes well for you!
I’ve been induced twice with pitocine and it went great both times. Like the others said it was long but went well I went in 1cm dilated with both and had my waters broken almost immediately as well
If it I had to do it again, I’d choose an elective c section over induction x
@Lara they declined me for that. Xx
Are you in the uk? I didn’t think they could decline! I’ve heard they can be stubborn about it, but I would question that if it’s what you want x
They cannot decline you for a section but they can be annoying about it! I was induced and it was fine x
i had a great induction with my first - pessary inserted around 10:30pm, went home with cramps. contractions started around 4pm, got intense around 9pm. got to hospital about 11:30pm and was 8cm dilated. waters broke on their own at some point and baby was born at 2:57am. just needed gas and air. good luck, and if you'd prefer a c section, push for it because they can't decline xx
I was induced for our lg, first baby so don't have anything to compare to. I went in on the Friday afternoon and had our LG just before 6am on the Monday. Once the contractions started, I found it uncomfortable but managed up to 5cm with paracetamol, oramorph and dihydrocodeine (Sunday evening). Best advice I would give is keep moving around as it helps, take snacks as you may not want to eat a full meal, and take comfy clothes to walk around in.
I’ve had 2 inductions and 1 natural. My 2nd induction was by far my best birthing experience (I laughed most of my waters out). Yes typically the contractions are more painful but easily managed. I was started on pitocin at about 11:45am, dilation checked around 4pm ish and I was 4cm. My baby was born at 5:32pm same day, managed on gas/air. As some ladies have mentioned, it’s better to stay active, bounce on a ball, walk. If they have a peanut ball I highly recommend using it. My midwife also suggested hand expressing during labour to speed things up and it worked pretty quickly for me. If your opting for an epidural you can get it the same time they start pitocin
I was induced. For me it was very quick. Took 11 hours for contractions to start but then baby arrived within 1 hour 20 mins. Wasn’t a bad experience just in my case very intense without much time to process. I was also admitted straight from a growth scan. I'd recommend going in with the attitude to go with the flow. I'm a bit of a control freak, so although it was in no way a traumatic birth it was quite stressful. Would be induced again though if I needed to. Hope all goes well
Even though it failed it wasn’t bad- just long. I had 3 pessaries and a balloon but no luck and had a section the next day. I had tightening nothing too bad but just wouldn’t dilate. You just need to relax when you’re there, take a book/ipad and break it up with some walking. Fingers crossed it’ll work for you and you’ll have your little one with you very soon ☺️
