Is it too late to put baby back on breast

I have a 9 week old baby who was breastfeeding the first 3 weeks and then we had to stop because I was having sore and cracked nipples. After having a Tounge tie treatment baby has made nipples bleed and she wasn’t able to latch properly. She has been taking my breast since birth as I am exclusively breastfeeding. She hates nipple shields and when placed on breast does not do wide open mouths. Exclusively pumping has become very time consuming, I want to introduce breast again and maybe do a combination. She is very settled with her routine and I don’t really want to stress her but I do want a bit more freedom also. I did have a lactation consultant come in however was not able to help ( she was referred by my health visitor). I was wondering if it’s too late or if it can be done with a support ?

I’d say give it a try! When my daughter was born we went through a roller coaster of EBF to needing to pump and give bottles, supplement with formula, and back to breastfeeding. I was able to meet with an incredible lactation consultant who helped me with her latch and gave me confidence to try again.

My baby had a tongue tie and would only latch on a nipple shield. After getting it sorted he still wouldn’t latch properly but I tried each and every time we fed even stopped feeding with nipple shield half way through a feed and tried without it. Eventually he latched and started to do it more often so just offer the breast every time even half way through a feed. Don’t give up ☺️xxx

If you have been pumping and still have some milk supply then it’s definitely possible to give it a go. It might be worth contacting your local infant feeding team or asking your health visitor about breast feeding support . My local infant feeding lady was happy to come and visit after a tongue tie cut to support breastfeeding

No harm on trying, I exclusively pumped from a few days old as he wouldn't latch, as he got older he slept better at night but would wake from time to time, when I offered a bottle he would take an ounce or so which meant I wasted quiet alot, tried one night on the boob and he took to it great, made the nighttime feeds tons easier with alot less wasted milk! If you don’t want to stress her out too much could you try introduce slowly and after a little bit of a bottle feed so she’s not overly hungry?

I didn't get mine to latch until weeks 13. We saw 4 LCs and a pediatric chiro and a pediatric osteo to help with her mouth!
