Working

How are people managing and what hours are you managing in work whilst working with HG?. I am a nursery nurse. I was signed off but have returned to work but struggling with the hours I have been given 8:30-5, 3 days a week.a Monday, Thursday and Friday. I’m exhausted. I’m not being sick as often but the nausea is making me feel awful and so so tired. My employer wants to call to see what hours would suit.. but I don’t even feel like I can manage any right now. 😢. Even without sickness it’s debilitating.. To add, I’m 21 weeks

Don't go in, rest

HG is horrendous… I was Off sick for 6 months… but saying that I was constantly dehydrated and had a thiamine deficiency and kept fainting, so it wasn’t safe to work. But the constant nausea is so draining and horrid. Are you managing to eat and drink?

@Eva I’ve pushed myself too much to go back I think.. I was starting to feel better. I am constantly feeling dehydrated because I know I am not drinking enough.. which is causing UTIs and making me feel rubbish too. But i can’t drink water as it makes me sick.. anything other than 7up does really! I can manage food now.. just in small portions x

I also work in a nursery and I’ve been off sick since 6 weeks pregnant, I’m now almost 17 weeks. The sickness is easing however I’m just so weak and zero energy from not being able to eat or drink for so long. There’s no way I could work right now

@Anna. I was reluctant to go off.. I went off at 11 weeks after being hospitalised for dehydration. But like you I just feel soooo weak! The children are challenging too.. and that’s without factoring my toddler is up at 4:30 most mornings! I was prescribed ordansetron but it wears off so quick and the GP has said or tried everything and can’t combine 😩. X

You absolutely can combine. I’ve had multiple hospital admissions and on the last one they combined odansetron and cyclizine and since then the sickness has minimised and been hospitalised since. I had HG with my first in 2021 and thankfully I was put on furlough for my whole pregnancy so I was still gaining a decent income. This time round it’s a financial struggle but despite the struggles I just physically can’t work atm. Hopefully we both start to feel better soon and get back on our feet!

@Anna. Ah that’s interesting. Yeah the financial side is a struggle.. I’m finding it more difficult now i am back in work to pay nursery fees! It’s probably more beneficial for me to be off again. Yes I hope you start to feel better soon, I did.. and then have gone backwards again. Xx
