Short naps again?

My baby hasn’t long turned 8 months - he was napping pretty well and consistently, 45-60 minutes in the morning and 1 hour and a half - 2 hours at lunch, sometimes a 20 min third nap if we needed to cut the second one short to get somewhere etc. The last few days he’s been fighting naps again taking ages to go down and they’re back to the dark days of only being 35 minutes long and then he wakes up and can’t be resettled back to sleep. Is this a developmental thing? Any tips on how to get him napping longer again? His naps are the only Time I get for me to cook and do housework etc so I really need this time back!

My LG is the same. They are going through HUGE developmental stages eg. Trying to crawl, stand to walk, their at the age where they aren’t burning enough energy to make them sleepy

It's likely to be a sleep regression/developmental leap at that age. It's also normal at 8/9 months that babies sleep 11-12 hours at night and 2-3 hours during the day over 2 naps totalling 14 hours. They can develop a lot at this age with rolling/crawling/walking etc then throw teething and weaning into the mix and babies sleep schedule can take a dive. It can be hard but try not to put any pressure on yourself or your little one to get those long naps. You could always set up some toys in the kitchen or wherever you are needing to be so he can play and watch you get jobs done if he really is opposed to a nap.

Just going through this with my 9 month old. I think we’re coming out the other side of it now as she’s started having some better days again. It’s tough but it is a phase.

My lo is the same currently only getting 2 half hour naps a day 😭
