Kick counts

I’m 31 weeks pregnant, been going off my baby’s patterns but I’m assuming he changed patterns so I’m going to kick count but unsure if it’s 10 movements every 2 hours or 10 movements a day. Does anyone else know what I’m looking for whether is 10 a day or 10 every 2 hours?

So its 10 counts within 2 hours when they are active but no set amount of times they have to be active so if you notice your baby is only active once a day its okay. Its understanding your babys pattern. Like for me she's been active when i first wake up and then later at night consistently but then randomly other times of the day so i mainly just make sure its 10 kicks with 2 hours during her consistent times to make sure she's alright! I count for the other times she's active too but since other times aren't consistent i dont stress if she's not active the next day at that random time she was active the day before.

@Megan He had this pattern of when I woke up I would feel him kicking when I did he hasn’t done that the last couple days but he has been active other parts of the day, I just get worried it’s getting so close and I just want to make sure I’m going to the doctor when necessary if need be. Thank you for your comment it really helped

Of course! Its scary especially getting closer. I know with them getting bigger they may not be as active but if you can count 10 kicks in 2 hours when he is active that's good. If you are concerned it never hurts to call your ob or midwife to ask!

I was told it’s 10 every 1 hour??

@Arysson by who?

@Megan my MFM

@Arysson Hmm the standard is minimum 10 every 2 hours but a lot of babies kick 10 times within the 30-1 hours anyways but as long as it’s at least 10 within 2 hours all is well. The only thing I know is they might suggest every hour if it’s a high risk pregnancy or some major concern such as previous pregnancy complications or when your past 40 weeks.

@Megan yea that makes sense my baby is high risk she has FGR
