Corewell Health Grosse Pointe

Hi mamas! How was your delivery at Corewell Grosse Pointe? I’m a first time mom due to deliver at Corewell Grosse Pointe in August. I am hoping for a low intervention//unmedicated birth. My OB only delivers at Grosse Pointe. I’m hoping to hear from others who gave birth there to see if I need to switch to a different provider/hospital while I have time. *I do have a doula

I delivered there I can’t say anything as far as un medicated because I got an epidural. But all around I liked it there super friendly and helpful that included all the doctors and nurses. They really listened to my needs. The food is nasty to me tho so I’d keep that in mind if you do end up there. But they don’t intervene much unless they have to check your progress and they pretty much left me alone after the epidural until it was time to push. But I also didn’t have a doula so I know nothing about that experience. But as long as your advocate or someone else advocates for what you want they will have no problem giving you that

First off congratulations! I went to Eastside gynecology And my midwife work out of there only too. I gave birth back in 2022 and I gave them my birth plan and everything I wanted/ didn’t want they executed there pretty much, they listen and was patient. They even gave me a hospital tour. I wanna say like two weeks before I gave birth as well on the room that I can do so if I’m doing a Unmedicated birth, I can do the laboring in the watertub and get in the bed to birth. They didn’t even give me a problem about taking my placenta home(just sign the from in pack it up. My experience went really well to be honest. I was the first time of me giving birth there as well. Honestly, believe you will have a great experience honestly just be very, very vocal about what you want and what your intention is for your birth plan

I had my son at Corewell health (Beaumont) grosse pointe and it was such a beautiful experience. Staff is super attentive, informative and assuring! I had an emergency c section because my son couldn’t keeps still during the NST and they were concerned about his heart rate and didn’t want to risk a possible stillbirth. They got him out safely and tested him thoroughly. Like I said, they were an amazing staff. They even give you a very comfortable bed. Did you do a hospital tour yet? My husband and I did and I strongly recommend it. If you can.

@Darlisa thank you for sharing!! I haven’t scheduled a tour yet but have been wanting to. Do you think 22 weeks is too early to tour?

@Nya thank you for sharing!!

@Jamila YAY! I am so happy to hear they are open to laboring in the tub. I know I’ll have to take their ~natural birth course~ to use that room but they won’t let me sign up until I’m at least 6 months along so I’ve been trying to find out as much as I can through other mamas that have been there

No problem. However remeber you may labor but not give birth in the tub. Itsa small birthing/labor floor to me. I’ve have been in bigger but I like that it small I feel like it’s more time for them to be able to focus on you. Also you stay on that floor you don’t go to another floor, where some hospitals have labor/deliver rooms then another floor for mothers and babies. You stay in that room, they’re pretty decent size rooms. They have refrigerators in them for your snacks and drinks. Congratulations again and I pray that when it’s time you have a safe delivery.

Grosse Pointe is a great option, but have you looked into the Karmanos Center for Natural Birth at the Royal Oak Corewell Health/Beaumont location? It's absolutely *exquisite* with so many birthing amenities, I arranged to have my son there but couldn't due to having arrived at the hospital with high blood pressure. Either way, both places are spoken very highly of, and your family will be in great hands! <3
