Water breaking

Hello, I am booked in tomorrow for my waters breaking to hopefully start labour. Does anyone have any positive stories? Does it make labour more intense or is that just the drip? I'm 39+5 and have had fluctuating BP throughout

I had my waters broken but no drip and it was okay (contractions did ramp up after my waters went but weren't immediately unbearable) I did have an epidural as well though but I was less than 6 hours waters breaking to birth and it was okay

I had mine broken too. I got given gas and air for it and got told to use it if it gets painful but honestly it wasn’t painful at all! Just felt someone pushing about down there 😂. Then felt the water coming out like I did a small wee. Contractions came on and was good. I did have the drip which got intense so then had an epidural but that was the drip not the waters. Good luck xx

I had my waters broken but unfortunately it didn't induce contractions and I had to have a pitocin drip for contractions to start. I believe its more likely to start contractions if its not your first baby. For first time mums breaking waters starts contractions in about 1 in 7 cases. So there's a chance you might not need a drip, but I'd definitely prepare yourself mentally that you might need it.

Definitely made it more intense for me, I was riding out contractions fine at first but after my waters broken they had me shaking and clinging to the gas and air for dear life . I asked for an epidural within an hour of my waters being broken

Slight different but my waters broke naturally at 38+5 and it definitely started contractions for me, but because they broke prematurely it basically gave me a false labour - so hopefully fingers cross for you it kick starts contractions x

I've had the drips both times and they kicked in quite quickly. My waters have never broken before labour so I wouldn't know if that brings on the intense pain

Similar to @Hannah got the waters broken at 6:30am, 1h of heavy contractions while the anaesthetist arrived, epidural and baby was born 3:45pm

I haven't been popped but I can say for definite that once the waters go the contractions are way more intense!

I had my waters broke at 10pm contractions started immediately and I had my baby at 7:10 am, it was quite painful for me just as I had multiple pockets of waters and she had to break them 4/6 times can’t really remeber but the first 2/3 were fine x
