C section scar

I’m 9 weeks PP and find every now and then my scar goes red and smells a bit funky but then will be fine the day or two later. I shower daily, sometimes twice daily so it’s not a hygiene issue. Has anyone else experienced this, is it normal?

If there is a smell, there is probably an infection. My scar got a bit red on week 2, but without smell and I went to GP who prescribed me with antibiotic ointment (I didn’t want to take anything orally as I am breastfeeding). But he also offered antibiotics with penicillin in it. The ointment is called Fucidin.

Totally normal, esoecially if you have a bit of a "shelf" or overhang. Just make sure you air it really well after showers/sweating/at bedtime. It'll go away eventually

hmm, I think it's pretty common for scars to do weird stuff like that, but maybe just keep an eye on it and check with your doc if it keeps happening. this is what the 'Heal Baby Care App' mentioned… hope it helps! "It's not uncommon for postpartum scars to change in appearance and smell occasionally, but persistent redness and an unusual odor can indicate an infection or irritation. It's good that you're maintaining hygiene, but you should monitor the scar closely for any worsening symptoms, such as increased pain, swelling, or discharge. If the redness and smell continue or worsen, it would be wise to consult a healthcare professional for a thorough evaluation. Have you noticed any other symptoms, like fever or increased pain around the scar?
