It's changed since the regression I've been tracking it and minimum 2 hours in a day and maximum 4 hours.
@Cheryl is that sleep or wakes?
@Becky she laughs in the face of wake windows 😂 I finally got her sleep just after 4pm and she had less than half an hour 😂
@Sarah that's his sleep in a day. His wake windows usually 2 hours at a time but depends if we're doing something he might go longer but he usually sleeps after 2 just the nap now is sometimes 20mins before he's up again.
Usually between 3 and 5 hrs sleep in the day over 4 naps. We’ve started putting her down for two of them so they’re 45mins, then one or two contact naps of 1.5hrs ish. BUT if we go out to do anything that gets really messed up - today we’ve been out twice so we’re on one 1.5hr and 3 20 min naps 🤷🏻♀️ she’s asleep on me now and I’ll put her down for bed after the next feed at 2045, so in total should still be about 3.5 hrs. I can’t wait for fewer longer naps so going out to a class doesn’t throw off our whole day!
Also she’s a right nosy parker too and was really fighting naps until I started a nap time routine - I set up a sleep playlist (gentle Disney!) that we always listen/sing along to, head up stairs, then she gets bundled in a hooded blanket, gets a couple of minutes sucking on my little finger (no dummy), and some forehead stroking (the playlist gets progressively snoozier) and she’s a goner. If she’s going down the face stroking followed by bum patting happens in the crib.
My god it’s 9.30 now and she’s had about half an hour all day 😂 it’s not like this every day but she still never sleeps as much as these other babies.
I m not saying we should raise our kids by the book but definitely you need to do a bit of research. The optimal time for the night sleep should be in between 18:30-20:00. In between 20:00 and 00:00 it’s the best time for babies to sleep as it’s that phase of deep sleep which releases the growth hormone and helps them in their development. Good quality night sleep will help during daytime naps. At their age the wake up window should be in between 1.5-2h but not every baby is the same so we should look for sleeping cues If you miss that sweet spot their cortison will increase and will give the baby a boost of energy that can make you think they are not sleepy at all, but at that point it s overtired and overstimulated. To get a baby down for sleep should take you some where in between 10-20min. If takes longer it’s or to early or too late. If you can’t put baby to sleep in that frame justgo away from the sleeping environment for 20 min and try again. I ll write another comm
Make sure sleeping environment it’s appropriate for you baby, temperature, red light, white noise and humidity. During daytime help your baby to get into the next time cycle and by time his brain will understand they need to sleep longer. You might end up finishing the nap by holding you baby which is fine. The key is to be patient and to practice. After you master this you can work at sleeping associations. Also make sure you have a routine to keep in place every time you put baby to sleep. They like predictability. Hope this helps 🥰💙
My LO has around 4 naps a day with roughly 2 hour wake windows . He usually has a couple 45-1 hour naps and x1 2-3 hour nap. Bedtime between 7-8pm and he sleeps through until around 5am has a bottle then back to sleep until 7am
