We’ve been dabbling with it for months and months. Since about 18 months we’ve had a potty out, and then got some of the toilet seats with steps. I got her some pants a while ago and just kept them ready. Up until a few weeks ago it was just something she used if she wanted to. She has been showing more and more interest, and last week said ‘no more nappies, wear pants’ of her own choice. We’ve been going with it, following her lead and she’s been doing okay. Few accidents a day sort of thing so far. A timer helps remind them to go, a book about potty training helps. Lots of praise and encouragement when they do go, we use stickers too as a little reward. Buy lots of bottoms/pants/socks for accidents. Puppy pads help for the car/sofa/etc. If they go nursery ask the nursery to do the same as you’re doing at home. Send in loads of clothes, and also a spare pair of shoes might help incase they get wet. Don’t pressure or rush, they’ll be ready in their own time. Good luck!
My daughter took about a week to fully potty train I would say! The first day went great and I thought it was going to be easy then she woke up on the second day with a potty aversion and held her wee and wouldn’t sit on the potty at all. That stage lasted two days. Then she had three days of doing lots on the potty but having a few accidents. Then we reached the stage where she would wee on the potty for every single tiny bit of wee, she did 18 wee’s on Saturday 😂. We had two days of that and that was when she stopped having accidents. I would say she was fully potty trained when she started going for the potty a normal amount of times. She didn’t like being made to go and try on a timer and just preferred to announce when she needed a wee
We started two weeks ago but my LO has shown signs she is ready since 18 months and she always tries to copy her brother when he goes so she understands. This was her first week potty training whiles at Nursery and she has done well. Best advice is to take them first thing in the morning when they wake do this every morning. Take them before and after nap. Take them last thing before bed. Also when you start easier if they don't have anything on bottom down. So they can easily go.
