Does your hospital or trust have an infant feeding team? Ours are amazing and provided loads of support for free
Have you been checked for tongue tie? X
If you Google natural breastfeeding and click on the first one (natural breastfeeding love to love breastfeeding) they have a really handy video on how to get you and baby in the correct position to latch and breastfeed. My baby now latches lovely x
@Madeleine thanks a mil! Will check it out.
@Marie they do and I’m waiting to hear back from them on my appointment.
@Claudia not yet. Thanks got the suggestion.
@Leigh thanks. Will take a look. Hoping it helps me too.
The best advice I received at the hospital is take your boob and squeeze it near the nipple in a sandwich shape and whilst holding your baby’s neck with your other hand and help the baby to find the nipple making sure the nipple hits the top of their mouth. The first few days were hard, I had midwives and my husband helping me as I couldn’t see properly if I have done it at the right angle. After a few days it gets easier. Just remember that both you and the baby are learning :)
Do you have a local breastfeeding support group you could visit for practical advice? I’ve literally been 5 times since he was born and he’s not even 5 weeks old. They’re immensely helpful and knowledge!
