2/3 were easy. 1 was hard. I prep them by pretending to be the dentist and having them lay back while I brush their teeth.

Haven’t taken them yet because I didn’t know how they would react. My daughter threw a fit at the ophthalmologist & I haven’t wanted to take her to anything other than a doctor, since.

Went great for both of them. The earlier you start, probably the better.

It went super well. We practiced by playing dentist with stuffies for a while leading up to it and read books from the library about going to the dentist. The day before we watched a video on YouTube of a kid going to the dentist too. We went to a pediatric dentist and they made the process so easy because they are used to only treating kids

There is a good Daniel Tiger episode/book about it too

The Melissa and Doug super smile dentist kit was really great!! And Jean pigeons popular dentist book!

My son kicked the dentist (my husband didn’t react fast enough to stop him) and bit my finger 😅 but we got through it. I will say the dentist wasn’t the best though, she didn’t introduce herself and explain what would happen. Just straight away grabbed his jaw and asked him to open his mouth. Can’t say I blame him for kicking her 😂

My toddler has been three times so far, only opened her mouth for the dentist to look once 🤣🤣 it’s more about getting them used to going at this stage so don’t worry about how it goes x

My eldest when she went to the dentist was super nervous at first, but when she sat down and the dentist was gentle and told her what stuff does and made stuff more fun and aimed at kids she wasn't scared & loved the fact she got a sticker!

My eldest was brilliant when she went to the dentist! My youngest is happy to go but refuses to open her mouth 🤦🏻‍♀️

Took daughter when she got her first tooth. Been going every 6 months since. She sat on my lap the first time and then after that she runs to the chair. I never over talked about it. I just said we’re going to the teeth dr to make sure your teeth are perfect. I’ve known the dentist for yours and he’s great with my daughter really friendly and explains what he is doing/going to do. Does he like stickers? Most dentil nurses give out stickers during the exam. And there’s always plenty to choose from!

My son first went when he was 1, he had no clue and barely opened his mouth. He's 4 now and he jumps in the chair. Our dentist is very good with children which definitely helps (the first one was useless with him)

I practise going to the dentist with my toddler at home. I get her to lay down on the sofa and open her month up for me, and then I use a teaspoon and check her teeth. And then let her do the same to me. Worked really well and was fab at the dentist.

We had utilised a mobile dentist service that visited preschool. So our daughter was in primary school by the time I took her & had had enough experience not to overly worry. Nervous sure, but not scared. She would have been more anxious me taking her for the first time as never used to behave bravely in my presence. We always did better with her Dad taking her to things for the first time than me. It can be so hard and I feel for you! Is there someone else who can help?

Went this week nearly 2 year old and point blank refused to open mouth 😂
