the hand in the mouth is a hunger cue, the waking and being fussy could be a plethora of reasons
Mine does that when she’s hungry!
Hungry or teething
Hand in mouth: (usually) hunger, Fist in mouth: (usually) teething.
It actually stops being a hunger cue at her age, she’s just discovering her hands and could be the start of teething.
@Tiggy’s Mummy what if my daughter just been fed but she still puts her fingers in her mouth? Some days it’s just her shoving her fingers in her mouth or sometimes she tries to shove her whole hand in her mouth, she’s only 3 months.
How old is your LO ?
To be honest, my little one started putting his hand in his mouth when he started teething. But, when we got through that initially & he did it when he was a bit older & going through sleep training, I mentioned it to his paediatrician & she said it’s a self-soothing mechanism & just another way baby is discovering the world around them/their senses 🫶🏻
It could just be self soothing, my baby constantly has her hands in her mouth x
Hands in mouth around 3 months is normal. It can be hunger, but it's also sensory discovery, soothing, and can be teething-related. They get over it after a few months, mostly.
This is not always from hunger or teething. It is also a developmental thing that babies do. They’ve just discovered their hands. It doesn’t really mean anything sometimes lol.
My daughter is doing the same with her hand and has been extremely fussy and only calms with her teething ring so I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re little ones also teething hun
It’s a development stage at this age, discovering their hands - shortly everything else will be going in their mouth too!
She’s hungry
