Elective c-section at RUH Bath

I will be having an elective C-Section with my current baby, after a horrific emergency section in Swindon hospital 10 years ago. I’m very anxious, but already feel more in control of the situation than last time! I just want to hear other peoples experiences of this at Bath and what to expect. Like can my partner stay the whole time and overnight ? How long roughly till they discharge you? What happens when they give you a date? Ect Thank you x

Hi lovely, I had my c-section in Bath 9 months ago. In the morning, they told me what time to expect to have it and I ended up having mine approx 5pm. My partner stayed the whole time and overnight but we were in a shared ward of 4 couples with the baby. I was discharged 24h after my c-section but it depends if you can wee without a catheter and if your obs are good etc. I had a date set but ended up needing one earlier but I know you’re meant to come in a week prior for consultation and tests etc. I got my date around 2 weeks prior and it was scheduled for 39 weeks x

I had one at Bath following a horrible emergency one in london, it was great. They give you a time, this was Covid era so my partner had to wait outside until I was called and came to join me, he was allowed to stay in the recovery room until close. Then I had a two night stop over and was discharged, due to Covid only he was allowed to visit, but it as SO much better than the trauma of an emergency x

I had one in Bath in January and had an amazing experience! Was scheduled for 39 weeks and 3 days and my partner was with me the whole time. My whole experience I documented on TikTok- anaisfletcher , the videos might help reassure you and I vlogged when in RUH too. I was discharged the next day after passing the amount of urine they wanted and obs all ok xxx

Not had a c section myself, but the midwives I encountered in Bath RUH were really lovely - first baby, I had Kesha and second baby, Hayley, both lovely ladies.
