Work

My mat pay finishes in July and I’m currently viewing childcare settings, most have said they only have limited places to start in September at the earliest. I don’t want to return to my current job, I want a new job for this time.. however where do I jump into the cycle first, get a nursery place first and just hope and pray I get a suitable job for September in order to pay for the nursery? Or get a job (obviously won’t be able to until much closer to the time, as no workplace is going to hire now for in 5 months time) but then risk not being able to find childcare for the right days needed? I don’t know where to start 😭

I would say find a nursery, figure out hours/ days then try find a job that can work around that. If you struggle to find a job and need to cancel as long as give a months notice you’ll only loose the deposit/ holding fee.

I agree with find nursery first. We booked ours while I was still pregnant and wait times can be a year where we are. We booked the start for when baby would be 9 months, but then decided I would take a year. I just had to email with notice to let them know we were delaying the start and that was that.

Nursery place now, worse case scenario return to your current job until you find something suitable
