Baby rolling over at night

So I've had to move my boy (5 months old) into his cot tonight, he's outgrown both of his moses baskets, extremely cramped in them both and I don't co-sleep through the night due to my disability. I'm worried because he can roll back to front but not front to back, and he likes to just lie face down?. He has put himself on his front to nap before now but I've supervised him. I'm terrified of going to sleep tonight and waking up to the absolute worst!

Read the first comment thread, it should put your mind at ease 😅 https://www.reddit.com/r/NewParents/s/2jY7MQFXIU

My daughter did the same thing and she ended up ok. At first I didn’t sleep much with how much I checked on her but then it became the norm

@Lynds just had a good read! I feel like I'll still not sleep tonight. Checked on him 3x already haha

@Sarah I feel this! I'm wide awake. Checked on him 3x already haha

If mattress is breathable it’s fine. My girl did this so much and she loves to sleep on her belly. I shoved my face in her mattress to see if I could breathe and I did just fine. Gave me peace of mind. Now she turns her head.

I know it's easier said than done because I was the same... Checking in on our son every few minutes when he started doing this. So a few things, Always put him on his back, if he rolls himself it's fine. Make sure the mattress is firm enough that his nose doesn't sink in I know it's obvious but no more swaddles and sleeping bags with arms in, because that'll obviously restrict his movement. Get a monitor if you don't have one and he sleeps in another room, will ease your mind a bit (?) Trust that he'll get your attention by calling or crying if he's stuck. I assume he can lift his head or can push off using his arms or at least has enough neck control to move his head sideways so he'll be fine
