I had 3 settling in sessions. First for one hour, i was there with my son. Second and third settling in session was for two hours and the third was 4 hours, on his own.
It's normal for you to be there for an hour or so for the very first time they enter the space but after that it's usually expected that you leave. My eldest started nursery in lockdown and we never even got to go inside the building 🫠
it seems that it’s more common for the parent to be with their child the first day at least.. not sure why they don’t do it at our nursery. It was such a trauma!!
Well my son settled fine so I didn’t go in but I’m sure mine let parents in. Settling in sessions at my place was two hours for two days . I live in derby
Our nursery d didn’t allow us to enter too they said it will make things harder and she will think that we will be with her … and settling was one week but I asked to extended to two weeks as one was week isn’t enough
@Louma were your settling in sessions free? Or did you have to pay for them
We had our first settling in day yesterday (baby is 9 months) and I was allowed to stay as it was an hour long where his key person got to know him and us. He will have a 2ish hour one next where I can stay for 30 min then leave, then the last one is 4 hours on his own 😢
