Is it just me??

I’m nearly 3 weeks post partum and had a fairly straight forward labour, had an episiotomy & pph. Struggled with lots of pain afterwards and my episiotomy scar is quite sore and tight atm but it feels ok mostly. I went out at 2 weeks pp for a midwife appointment and then to a cafe but did lift baby’s pram and car seat into the car. Since that evening I developed a really heavy feeling in my vagina that happens on/off when I’m stood up and walking about. I went to the doctors for a UTI and mentioned it - they checked down there for me and said they couldn’t see anything and said that everything is healing up nicely. Just wondered if anyone is having the same feeling??

Hello, your labour sounds very much like my first labour. It sounds like you need to refer yourself to your local women's physio. I think you can self refer yourself until you reach 12 weeks pp. I self referred myself after my first labour and it was so helpful. My episiotomy became so much more comfortable and the physio helped my healing so much better. I hope this helps and hope you feel better soon x

I’d also recommend getting in touch with the physio. Sounds a bit like it could be pelvic floor related. I had issues with my pelvic floor following a tear during my first delivery and experienced the ‘heavy’ feeling too - no signs of anything being out of place/prolapse. Worked on my pelvic floor and symptoms really improved!

They say don’t lift anything heavier than your baby for 6weeks if you can 💖 I decided to just carry my little one to appointments to avoid lifting the pram - it can be super heavy and awkward and put pressure on your new wounds/bruises. Or! Ask a friend, family member to accompany you for support and physical help!
