Breastfeeding

Does anyone else’s baby bob around at the boob, latch then unlatch, and just generally get a bit frustrated at times? I have a 3 week old and in the last few days she’s become a bit fussy at the boob, especially my right one. I feel I don’t produce enough milk that side as it never feels as full or hard as my left. Unsure what to do to try and make baby happier. Considering expressing/pumping at 4 weeks and introducing a bottle of breast milk too. Anyone have any good/bad experiences/advice relating to any of this? 🫶🏼

Same! I have this with my left one, she always wants the right and gets frustrated with the left. I try pumping that one more.

My baby has been so frustrated with breastfeeding since birth! She’s almost 2 weeks now. She is constantly on and off the boob every single feed and she gets so angry and screams. It’s hard to keep her latched but once she finally does she’ll eventually have a long feed and I know from her nappies that she’s getting plenty. It seems like it’s just taking her longer to get the hang of BF than with my first. I’m just persevering with it atm x

That’s all normal breastfeeding behaviour. It’s how they tell your body to make more milk. So many people end up giving up because they think their supply isn’t enough when it’s fine. It settles down a lot around 6 weeks.

I was also having this, more supply in one side alot less in other, been breastfeeding and expressing within the first few days my little one is almost a month old now. And he is starting to settle down and latch well. Just trying to get milk supply more even and increased by double pumping after feeds. Or sometimes i just pump to feed via bottle so dad can feed too. So even if you can’t feed from breast, pumping and given by bottle is still going to give your baby breast milk.

Mine latches fine when he starts but sometimes turns bobby and aggravated...I think it's due to wind, as if I manage to get a burp out of him he'll often go back on happily. Don't think I'm short of milk as he gets very milky chops and I can pump even after he's finished and more comes out. Drives me nuts when he does it, especially if he gets angry with me burping him

Yes and as soon as we hit two weeks the nighttime feeds changed and she was so fussy! I bought an Elvie curve which is like a haka and I put it on for a couple of mins just to get the first flow of milk through/out and also if I do some massage/hand massage expressing this helps too with my supply, I got told to introduce a bottle as her weight stayed the same for four days, I didn’t want to so instead fed every two hours and a day and a half later she was 60grms up and nearly at birth weight! I have read they do this at around 2/3 weeks as having a growth spurt. But I’m so glad I just stayed calm and carried on as she’s settled a bit now!

It’s normal for them to come on & off to help stimulate the milk. Mine is the same at this age. La Leche league has some good advice. Sometimes they just aren’t hungry despite showing signs.

My baby does this but he’s tongue tied, have they checked ?
