Help!

Does anyone follow a schedule with a 4 and 1 year old? I’d love some insight please.

I found takingcarababies when my first was a newborn and people think I’m insane for following our schedule so closely. I will schedule everything before or after naptime. Mine are 4 and 1 also and we’re finally on the same schedule with both! Up around 8am and we have our daily activities and learning stuff after breakfast until lunch time usually around 12, nap between 1-3, snack then play until it’s time to make dinner and they play together w/o me. Eat, bath and bed around 8.

@Jewely yeah that’s like what I’m thinking. Just shifted down. Our day is kinda different with my fiancés work schedule and him being off so late. I think I’m just in such a funk that a little bit of structure would be good.

@Jewely just everytime I try a little routine or working with my oldest the baby screams. Any tips on that?

We follow a loose schedule. I let them get up whenever. We have breakfast and then play. If it's nice we go to the park. I make sure we are eating lunch around 12pm. Then they go down for nap around 1pm. Then when they get up we have a snack and play. Then we eat dinner at 6pm and give some screen time or TV time if our older one had been good. At 7:45 we start bedtimes so they are going to bed around 8pm.

@Willow I get them ready at the same time if possible but I put my 1yo down first because he’s more tired while my 4yo is laying in his bed or looking at a book. Mine need close to 12 hours of sleep so I have to put them to bed around 8, otherwise they wake up too late in the morning to take a quality nap and the terror begins 😂

Our daily routine goes like this: -wake up, breakfast -getting ready (cleanup kitchen, brush teeth, dress, dishes. he plays while I do my skincare & hair) -read some books together -toddler yoga (we like cosmic kids on YouTube) -lunch (~11:30 or 12) -go outside for a walk or movement inside of it's cold -quiet time (this is more of a rest for me than for him) -1 big chore -intellectual stimulation (books, crafts, learning games, etc.) -make supper (~5:00 or 5:30) -family time & chores together -start bedtime routine (7 pm) -bedtime (7:30) It's pretty flexible except for meals & bedtime

It’s hard to do activities with my 4yo that my 1yo isn’t ready for, specific projects like using scissors cotton balls and glue to make a bunny so I just give him a piece of paper to rip up and a marker and uuuusually that keeps him busy long enough. If not, I will try to put my 1yo in a highchair for snack or also with paper and a marker (he eats crayons)

@Jewely YESSS THE CRAYON EATING!!! 😭😭😂😂😂😂

I’m just starting out setting a schedule for my 3 year old and newborn. Once my youngest gets on a set schedule I know it will be so helpful because it is already doing so much good. I feel level headed and less stressed. Just have to pause what I’m doing for feedings, diaper changes, or cuddles and continue my task after.

@Acacia this is so helpful and pretty!! I definitely think it’ll help my household having a schedule also!
