Planned c section mamas

I’m planning on going for an elective section, I am anxious and nervous. What are your experiences/ story so I can get an idea what to expect. 🥺

Went in at 9:30 and was last on the list, went up to theatre at 14:30 and baby was born at 15:08. It was the most calm, controlled, surreal experience. Ask for them to pull the curtain down when they pull baby out it’s the best moment ever! You can’t feel a thing until they wiggle baby out and it just feels like someone is tugging on you but no pain at all. Good luck! All being well it is the best experience ever❤️

Got there for about 8, they only do two electives a day and the other girl in there went before me. I was through at about 11.40. They sit you down, numb your hand, place the cannula, numb your back, place the spinal. Then you lie down, they hook your blood pressure up etc, then they check you’re absolutely numb from the waist down. They didn’t even tell me they’d started the section but baby boy was out within about 5 minutes lol. They took him to be dried off and make sure he was okay, was literally about 45 seconds and my partner followed with them to the other end of the room. They then put baby on you for skin to skin and I stayed with him while they stitched me up. Then they dropped the curtain and wheeled me back to the ward! My partner stayed overnight and they took my catheter out 12 hours after surgery. I had a great experience and I’m sure you will too ❤️❤️

I arrived at 7:00am, there were 3 of us on the list for that day so they were hoping to have us all done by lunchtime. I was second. Went onto the ward and met the anaesthetist, surgeon, midwife etc, and they briefly chatted to me about the procedure. I’ve had an emergency section before so didn’t need an in depth explanation. Put my gown and compression socks on and my husband got into his scrubs then went down to the anaesthetic room at 9:30am. Had my cannula inserted, spinal put in (numbed by local anaesthetic) then catheter in. You’re checked that you’re fully numb waist down then wheeled on the bed into theatre. My husband then came in, I was given some anti sickness which I asked for as I typically get nausea! They started the surgery around 10:05am, baby was born at 10:13am - he went to the midwife to be quickly checked, had his cord cut by my husband then came straight to me for skin to skin while they stitched me up. They took him through to recovery with my husband while…

They got me onto my hospital bed and unhooked me from monitors etc and then wheeled me through to see them both. Spent about 45 mins in recovery while they monitored my blood pressure then we got taken down to our ward. After 6 hours, I got up (with help from the midwife) and had my catheter out. We were home by midday the next day so just over 24 hours after surgery 😊

Thank you all for sharing! Most definitely put my mind at ease with my decision! Officially told my midwife today that’s the option I think is best x

Mine was so special I arrived at 7:30 went to theatre at 8:30 and had my baby boy at 9:30 due to them not being able to find my veins for my canula (this was the only bit that was uncomfortable because they had to try a few times but it wasn’t painful) Once they started my son was here after three songs in my playlist and born to the song I wanted him to be born to xx there was a small bit of pressure when they pulled him out but again no pain I just felt a bit winded It was so calm and lovely and the first few hours you have no pain so you’re just in your little bubble with them
