Just learned about this!

So for anyone that is pregnant and has a bmi over 40, the UCSD birthing center will not deliver your baby. Also if you have complications and prior Csections they won’t deliver either. I never knew about this! I have GD (gestational diabetes) and take insulin and have had a csection before and a lot of ppl told me I should’ve opted for them in the beginning but I’m glad I didn’t. I would’ve been stressed out looking for a new facility. 😮‍💨

What is the birthing center? Is this for any of their locations? Interesting. My OB is at UCSD and I’m planning to deliver there, I haven’t heard anything about any of those requirements

@Adriana ucsd birthing center. But if you don’t have a complicated pregnancy and stick to the bmi requirement then you should be okay there

@Lisa Yeah that’s separate from the main hospital centers I believe anyone can go to La Jolla or Hillcrest. I have a high-risk ob with them.

@Adriana yeah I think you’ll be in the actual hospital delivering there and not the birth center.

@Lisa I didn’t even know about the birth center so I wasn’t sure if that meant like UCSD general requirements or anything. I’m still early though so I can’t assume if I’ll be able to do that. In any case, I registered at La Jolla.
