Had a section with first and recovery was great HOWEVER i did try for a VBAC but my baby couldn’t be read on the monitor so went to theatre. I was 7cm epidural failed twice and so did the spinal block so i was under general anaesthetic. Recovery was AWFUL and harder because of my toddler and i had an infection which lasted for 3 weeks 🙄 the incision didnt fully close until infection was gone
Hello, ahhh so I’ve just had my second section 6 weeks today and honestly the recovery has been a million times better than my first!! I was up moving quicker etc. I have a 2 year old and she’s been amazing. Don’t let your first recovery put you off. Stay on top of pain relief even if you don’t need it xxx
I had an emergency c section with both of mine, and if im honest my second one was so much easier and quicker to recover from than my first! X
I didn't have a section first time but it was so traumatic I opted for section this time and I had such similar thoughts to you! the section was amazing and I'd do it again 1000%, but I don't really feel the desire for a vaginal birth
I had an unplanned section, my waters broke, I laboured for nearly 72 hours and I wouldn’t dilate quick enough with the risk of infection rising. Recovery was a lot easier than I ever expected, but I’d do anything to have a VBAC with my next .. I think the fact I had no idea I’d end up in a section as I had the perfect pregnancy etc even laboured well.. I mentally struggled with not being able to have a vaginal birth.. with that being said you now have a toddler to look after so maybe recovery wouldn’t be as “easy” unless you’re support system will be able to be hands on for the first few weeks - either way good luck girly xxxx
I’m in the exact same boat as you! I’m really weighing my options. Hoping you get the wisdom and peace you are looking for to make the best decision for you and your family 🤍
I labored for days with a back to back baby before my eventual emergency csection last time. I'm 100% aiming for a VBAC this time. Can't imagine electing to have such a big surgery for myself. I found recovery pretty good but I know I'll be able to do more with my 3.5 year old and baby if I manage to avoid another section.
I've had natural unmedicated births with tears and a C-section. You couldn't pay me a million dollars to ever have another C-section willingly. It's a major surgery with weeks longer recovery and it ruined my body.
@Robyn same
I had a second planned section for this reason too. The anxiety of leaving my daughter was so high and I couldn't deal with the unpredictable aspect of going naturally in case I was on my own with Her at the time. To be honest, you have so much going with a toddler and new born you are distracted from the pain. Just keep reminding the LO that mummy has a big ouch on her tummy so they know not to jump or sit on you lol. Discuss it with your midwife though so you don't have any regrets x
I had an emergency C-section at 10cm when his heart rate dipped to long, it was horrible, I didn’t heal well, infection, such horrible bruising etc, with my 2nd I got induced with the balloon and then when in labour my baby turned transverse so had an unplanned C-section that day and it was so much better!! Hardly any bruising, was up so much quicker, no infection, etc My baby was in the nicu so I was travelling up and down from when I went home at 24hrs and I didn’t feel bad, my oldest was only 13 months so he didn’t understand which did make it a little harder. I am so glad I tried the vbac tho but also glad my 2nd C-section was so much better than my first x
@Alesia there’s so many of us with this story!!! And it’s definitely okay to feel the way you do because I very much feel the same!! From when I was down in theatre until the next morning I don’t remember much I was so spaced out from the drugs which was sad. I hope you and baby boys doing well!! X
Hi! I only had one c section, emergency as my induction failed, so I experienced the labour and everything… I would do the c section again closed eyes! The predictability of it, my recovery was also amazing. I only regret I didn’t plan it in advance and tried the natural one… but everyone is different, trust your intuition 😘
