Postpartum anxiety and intrusive thoughts

Anyone else getting anxiety caused by intrusive thoughts about dropping the baby or something bad happening? I get scared knowing that I’m thinking about dropping my baby or him falling when I’m nursing, walking down the stairs with him.

Hi, yes I was getting these thoughts very frequently when my baby was a new born, with times get better. Don’t worry about them, just your mind keeps you alert. I was the same, I’m pretty sure most of us are. They will fade away with time x

Please get health visitor or perinatal support, and careful if you’re too exhausted. I went through postpartum anxiety too due to struggle with breastfeeding as NHS failed to support me but overall paying lactation consultant helped me. Overall I still got support from therapy referred by HV, it helped me understand a lot of the things. Professional help is what’s needed when you have such thought process.

This was bad for me in the first 3 months. It got better after that. I think it’s most important that you recognize they are intrusive thoughts and out of the ordinary! Knowing that makes you feel crazy but then also helps ground you!

Oh my I’m such a deep sleeper and so is my partner my biggest fear is we both just fall asleep and don’t hear baby crying to feed 🥹😭😭😭 although people keep saying once you have the baby you will automatically stop being such a deep sleeper so I’m holding on to that!
