Also luckily the doctor who was there happened to be the doctor I saw through my consultant appointments! X
Amazing, glad to hear you got the birth experience you wanted! ☺️ May I ask how far along were you when you went into labour? Did you have any sweeps/induction etc or completely spontaneous? X
Following. Lol when I showed up for my c section they nearly were going to wheel me down to mendip! Had to say I’m high risk 😂😂
Hey I didn’t give birth in mendip, but I had a home birth with the mendip home birth teams and it’s just to say the midwives on mendip are lovely xx
I gave birth to my first baby in September in Mendip feel free to message me x
I was 41+1 when I gave birth, I refused any induction before 41 weeks even though they tried to push me to be induced. I went in to be induced at 41 weeks but thankfully went into labour naturally the day I went in so didn’t need to be induced. I did end up being rushed to theatre and prepped for c section as soon as I was moved to the delivery suite due to baby’s heart rate completely dropping (we since think that baby was holding on to the cord 🤣). Thankfully the consultant who was there monitored me for another 20 mins whilst in theatre to give baby and me a chance to recover heart rates and then I went back to delievery suite. I did however have to have the hormone drip to ramp up my contractions as I didn’t dilate enough as they had to break my waters whilst in theatre to make sure that baby didnt poo inside me, which then resulted in me having the epidural as the pain went from 0-100 very quickly! I then needed assistance to get baby out when pushing which I found difficult as..
Couldn’t feel anything whilst pushing! But managed to get my VBAC which I was over the moon about! Even though it was quite traumatic at times and I needed every bit of help under the sun, I still had such a positive experience and the staff were just amazing! Wishing you all the best! I’m now pregnant with baby number 3 and really hoping to have the same VBAC again.. hopefully without epidural and hormone drip this time!! Xx
I tried to have a VBAC at Southmead, but ended up needing another emergency cesarean in the end. Was on the central delivery though as classed as high risk, but the staff were amazing there. The midwife who looked after me when I came in was called Tash, and she was so supportive of all my wishes. It was a much nicer experience compared to the first time around. Wishing you better luck than me 🤞🏼
Hey, I didn’t give birth at the mendip centre I was on central delivery but managed to get my VBAC! They were fabulous, after a few scares during labour when I thought it was going to end in c section, the doctor who was on knew how desperately I wanted to have a VBAC and really advocated for me. I did need help with vontouse and an epitomy in the end but couldn’t have gone any better! Just make sure you really air your thoughts and wishes and they are so supportive xx
