I was terrified for my c section! I ended up having a failed version and needing a c section right away because bubs was COMING! The staff was amazing. The anesthesiologist and her team were the most supportive and everyone was constantly checking on me and even my husband.
I ended up electing for a c section when in labour and the midwives and doctors were really unhelpful and kept telling me to birth my baby naturally, when it came down to it the actual team that performed the c section were great and really supportive. The surgeon afterward told me that I made the right decision and the anaesthetist took photos and supported us through the surgery.
@Cae they just kept saying there’s no medical need for one which I’m aware of and said as much but don’t even want to know why I had asked for the consultation in the first place
You’re completely within your own right to go for one whether you medically need one or not and whilst it’s their responsibility to educate you on all types of births and recovery, they don’t have the right to make you feel any way about going for one birth over another! It’s your birth and your decision, ask for a different consultant or midwife if they’re not supportive! @Leah
I had a c section at Basildon, it wasn’t an elective so can’t comment on that side but the team were excellent! I was so scared and very upset but they really looked after me
I was under Basildon and felt judgment at my booking appointment so took myself to Southend and Will be having an elective there The best care from Start to finish ( 2 weeks to go ) don’t regret my decision
i had an emergency c section at Basildon and it was the best experience, i could not thank them enough, they were extremely supportive in theatre and made me so comfortable at my most vulnerable time. the team who will be in theatre with you care about you and your baby, please do not let negative experiences with others make you worried. 🩵
I had an elective c section at basildon last year and on the day all the staff were lovely and I had a really great experience! I definitely found my community midwife and the nurse who did my pre op appointment didn’t agree with my choice but on the day everyone was very supportive
I had an elective, after everyone started telling me how many stitches they got during vaginal deliveries. The fear! It really annoyed me I had loads of appointments with men (different hospital), trying to convince me to push a baby out of my vagina. As if they could understand! But eventually I got signed off, and the care was fantastic. Those people that were causing you trouble, you probably don't need to see ever again. However; I'd probably complain about them, for the next person. They're not supposed to be there to judge, they're there to listen.
What was their reasoning for not wanting you to get one?
