There could be full body swelling - my mom had to go buy me depends - it truly makes everything easier
Big water bottle that you can keep by you, ideally with a closeable straw, because reaching can be a bit painful at first x
I’d recommend a keep cold suckable water bottle 🙏🏼 keep your fluids up afterwards and feels more hygienic than the hospital plastic cups Hair toggles to keep your hair up as Megan said the hospitals are quite warm
I'd advise disposable c section pants rather than the pads, personally
All of the above, plus the biggest knickers and comfortabliest clothes. I made a stupid mistake of having a fancy pajama set with lace trim - not something that would normally irritate my skin but drove me mad post c section. I think the epidural plus other drugs can make your skin extra sensitive.
Frida mum disposable underwear, comes up nice and high over your incision. Flip flops, towel and toiletries because that first shower in hospital made me feel so much better. Eye mask for when you get a chance to nap. Spare pillow too. And yeah a fan and water bottle with straw because wards are usually hot. A nursing nightie is nice too x
Prune juice and lactulose . The first go to the loo can be very very painful ,. I wasn’t informed when I had my first c section, it wasn’t a funny experience.
Mint chewing gum. Great for post section trapped wind!
-portable charger -MULTIPLE water bottles (with straws) I had two huge ones on the go because you get so thirsty -Slippers -Night gown that you can take down for b/feeding if doing so ---PERI WASH BOTTLE. I went back and forth getting one but glad I did because wiping just ain't it and helps you stay clean if showering is too much. For home -bedside snack box (savory and sweet) -Large adult diapers that are high for scar. Less laundry, more comfort. -Maxi dresses/robes/nighties that don't sit on scar. -High waisted underwear for later
100% a fan!
Lightweight dressing gown is good too for going to the toilet from the ward.
Lots of snacks!
Peppermint tea for the gas pain that's quite common. And all underwear, clothes high waisted. I had my csection 3.5 years ago and still can't wear anything that sits directly on my scar.
I’ve had a c section hun! 👋 I found useful was: a button down black pj top (got mine from Tesco) Black pj shorts (for you are staying for a few nights) Nightie with buttons down Slippers or thick socks Your own pillow and or blanket Maternity pads Disposable discreet always knickers Over the bump underwear (got mine in Asda- look for comments that say it stays up so it doesn’t affect the scar) Water bottle 3M phone chargers Snacks Jogging bottoms that’s really oversized and comfy Lose t shirts to go home in Mini face wash/mositurser/shampoo/shower gel- defo treat yourself and find something you like. It’s so nice the morning after Baby bag: Woolly hat X3 vest and baby grows of each size (I did newborn, 0-1, 0-3) Nappies/wipes/nappy bags) An extra blanket My hospital gave us milk if you are doing formula fyi we’ve found that kendamil caused my son really bad constipation and stomach pain for months defo try a different brand Good luck hun! @Sally omg agreed!
Bridget Jones style pants and your most comfy of pjs for going home in.
Peppermint tea and chewing gum or soft mints for the trapped gas xx
I found disposable adult nappies much more comfortable than knickers with pads. I used the boots own brand ones because the tena maternity ones didn’t come up high enough. And a long phone charger was a life saver
We actually packed our changing beck with everything baby would initially need, outfit nappies milk etc as there wasn’t really a lot of space then once settled on the ward my partner got out my actually hospital bag with all my bits and rest of baby bits which I felt really worked well as he didn’t need to carry everything, long charger for your phone lip balm and face wipes were helpful for me! Also found big knickers and pad as opposed to disposable pants
I had a c section 5 weeks ago and the best things I bought were, big high waisted underpants and maternity pads. The hospitals pads were awful. I got these from Amazon and I loved them. ABENA Premium Maternity Pads,... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0C1KD5GS1?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Diapers are the best option. No leaking no multiple movements and no having to fix it constantly because it’s uncomfortable. If you can tie a sheet to the end of the bed to help pull yourself up
Hello lovely! The NHS has guidelines on hospital bags is good for all the essentials. I would just note a few things to get which are not on the list 1) water bottle with a straw as it’s hard to unscrew a cap in between contractions 2) 3m phone cable as the plugs are far from the bed 3) high waisted disposable padded underwear You can also buy or create your own hospital bag at mybabynest.co.uk they include a high waisted padded underwear. I would just say they offer a postpartum belly wrap, only use this after 2 or 3 weeks your C-section to allow yourself to heal better. you’ve got this! 💪🏻
A towel to put over you scar when you are on the drive home, if there are any speed bumps, holding something tight across my lap really helped. Same if I was coughing etc
Lactose, sooftner, prunes, orange juice and loads of water 🤣 Trust me anything that makes u soft and easy to go- it will save you pain and stress lol Start taking stuff now to ensure you'll have no issues after. Honestly it's the best decision you'll make 🤣 xx
@Lauren agreed, I had a pillow over mine - the drive home was a little rough but the pillow helped. Took about 20 mins to get in and out the car mind 🤣🤣 xx
Definitely a fan!! It was SO hot on the ward afterwards. Other than that, I’d say a long charger for your phone, big knickers which won’t sit on your wound, comfy, loose pyjamas (I packed 2 dark nighties and 2 dark pairs of pyjamas) and loose clothes to come home in, maternity pads, your usual toiletries for a shower after and some snacks. I changed to a C-section 2 days before I had it so I kept my original hospital bag and honestly found that I didn’t need half of the stuff I’d originally packed for my induction as I was discharged the next day, I definitely overthought/over packed, whatever you have packed will definitely be enough xx
