Babysitting

I’m a first time mom of an almost two months old boy. I’m looking into getting a baby sitter to help with the baby when I return to work. Currently my mom is watching him but I’m sure without me being around it’s going to get overwhelming for her so that’s why I’m considering a babysitter for a few hours a day. However, I have been feeling anxious even thinking about leaving my baby with someone else. How does everyone cope with that feeling? Also, what responsibilities exactly would they have? I feel very clueless about this whole thing

Id look into a childminder or a nanny if you want them to stay at home. My little boy is going to nursery 2 days and spending 2 days with my mum! Theyd have full responsibility whilst being with the child, naps, nappies, feeds, play etc

I just went through this. Thankfully, I work from home so I still have some control over the situation. Our nanny's sole responsibility is catering to baby. She is free to watch TV or work on college homework as long as baby is within arms reach at all times and if baby cries, drop everything to cater to her. We do ask that she wash bottles if they are piling up and restock nursery items as necessary. As baby gets older and her immune system comes in, they will take her to our library's baby tummy time and reading for some socialization and stimulation. I did require that our nanny have safe sleeping, SIDS, and cpr/first aid training at least once previously. A lot will depend on budget. The more certifications and duties you want them to take on, the more it will cost you. I posted in our local moms Facebook page and then interviewed candidates that I liked resumes on. Hope that helps!

I also ask my nanny to wash baby’s clothes, clean my kid’s bedroom, organize toys and to cook as soon as he starts solids
