Stopping breastfeeding

I need all of the tips please! I managed to cut her right down just before I went back to work last November. But now she wants it whenever she’s hungry, tired, falls over, gets upset, if she’s poorly or when I come back from being out (could be 1 hour could be 8 it’s always the same). For my mental health we need to cut it back at least! She’s nearly 17 months old and she just cries and pulls at my top until I give in. I try distraction, another drink or other food. Sometimes it works but 95% of the time she will just wave her hands and throw things away. I don’t know what to do 😭. My eldest went on nursing strike so I never had to wean him off. Really wish my girl would do the same but looks very unlikely.

My cousin had to go on a 2 week vacation with her youngest. If they see you there they know the boob is available. After that trip they were fine.

IVE GOT YOU!!! Got this advice with my first and it worked with both my babes at 1 year 9 months. Both obsessed with nursing!!! SO: put honey on your breasts and then a lot of salt. Offer them to nurse but explain the boobies are sick and milk has gone bad. Both of mine took one “sip”, then never again. Should’ve seen their faces😅😂 kept it like that with a sports bra for 2 days, anytime they asked to nurse I’d show them and they’d just look and say “ew yucky”!!!! Got this tip in a nursing group. My milk disappeared in a week. Seriously try it, I know it sounds weird.

Also offer water instead. They will def get more thirsty so always a bottle close by.

I just reduced day time feeds to pre-nap only. Just stuck to my guns and didn’t give in. With nap and bedtime/night time, I just went cold turkey. It wasn’t easy, but also wasn’t as bad as I thought. I just told her ‘no’ or ‘all gone’ whenever she asked. She still occasionally asks just over a week later, but doesn’t get upset at all when I say no. And she loved the boob a lot!

My daughter weaned herself off. But my boy I had to go on a weekend trip for one and the other I was hospitalized and he didn’t have a choice. I like @Sofia ‘s suggestion. I also was told that coloring your nipples with a non toxic marker could scare off from wanting to breast feed.

My mom kept my 13 month away from me for about a week and a half. She also taught her instead of moms boobs, she could drink cows milk (has to be warm even now at 15 months) so she can drink it. At first she kept throwing it. And any time she would try to get on the boob my mom would tell her “eewee “ and after a week and a half of my poor momma suffering day in and day out she stopped drinking the boob. Any time she’d see me, she’d cry and hit my boobs, I’d have to make sure NOT to give in.

Yes she would cry and cry. Day in and day out. The doctor said it was perfectly normal and babies make habits. The crying was to make me feel bad and not to give in. I never thought we would make it. We did
