Sleep suits - 2 depending on how long you stay in. I didn't take any muslin. Outfits - just one for going home. Breast pads - I didn't end up using any as my milk hadn't kicked in properly so there was no leaking. Bra - 1 for going home. Knickers - 2. Pads - a pack (I had a c section). Nappies - not that many to be honest. I don't remember exactly but it was definitely no more than 10 and I was in for 2 nights.
I think I definitely over packed! And it all depends on the type of birth and how long you’re in. I was c section and was in for 5 days but I had: - x3 0-3 month baby grow - x3 newborn baby grow - x3 muslin - coming home outfit - love to dream swaddle (lifesaver) - 1 pack of nappies ( 26 pack) - 2 packs of wipes - Vaseline ( apply between nappies and is amazing so the poo doesn’t stick to skin as the meconium doesn’t budge!) Depending on what birth you have, I had an emergency c section but packed for VB. I took in: - spritz for bits - ice pack sanitary towels - tena lady pants - period pants x6 - disposable pants x 10 - pack of pads - Peri foam - peri bottle - nipple cream - huge pants that go over tummy ( if c section) -10 nipple pads ( I used only 2) -2 nursing bras What worked for me is I kept a stock of things in the car ( another pack of nappies, sanitary towels etc) and if I needed them I just asked my partner to bring them in with him each time he came back in x
If your hospital is anything like mine, they keep the ward at approximately four thousand degrees so baby clothes weren’t really necessary until we went home (I’d packed three baby grows and a going home outfit!) I could have done with many more muslins because she puked on various things and we couldn’t get new bedding for her cot when this happened so we ended up improvising. I was distressingly more in love with disposable pants than I ever thought possible. Quick and easy is probably the main thing I’d stress for anything you pack. Also, genuinely be prepared to stay. I packed to stay “because they tell you to” but ended up with an emergency c-section that I totally wasn’t expecting so wasn’t really as prepared as I should have been. But please don’t let that sound scary because the staff were wonderful, my recovery was easy and my little girl is healthy and happy! Final thought is that the cubicle we had was TINY so you need to make things easy to find.
Thanks ladies for your suggestions, this app is a life saver 😍 For disposable knickers, is there a specific brand that would be ideal or doesn’t matter?
Adult nappies babe, honestly the best decision I ever made.
I used Tena because Amazon had them on quick delivery and I’m disorganised… they were as comfortable as I think you can expect (and much more comfortable than the proper period underwear I optimistically also purchased) Afraid I didn’t try anything else to compare with.
Disposable knickers !!!
