Toddler won't unlatch at night

So, I have a 18 month old, she's always been milk mad and I've never really been that bothered by he amount of time it takes to get her to sleep (average 1-2hrs of feeding) but I recently found out I'm pregnant and it's starting to worry me a bit. She stays latched for a good 45+mins for her nap and bedtime is usually atleast and hour sometimes closer to 2. I know we have time to prepare now so I just wanted to see if people had any advice on how to reduce the time she's latched.i try the finger method on longer nights and it's worked a couple times but usually just wakes her and then she swaps sides and feeds again 🤣

have you tried tickling behind the ear! a friend told me this trick and it works the majority of the time for me!

i could’ve written this myself 😭 my 15 month old does this too, for naps and all night. i heard there is a sleep regression between between 15-18 months, has your baby always done that or did it just get worse? it could be a temporary regression. but this has definitely worried me with trying for a 2nd, i can’t imagine a newborn in the mix with a co sleeping and contact napping toddler 😭 mine won’t sleep with anyone else but me, not even his dad. but SO much can change in all those months it takes to grow a baby!

My now 20m old was doing the same thing. Would only nap attached to the boob. If I took it out he woke up. Bedtime was easier… but had to do the finger method and pray it worked… I was kinda tired of being used as a binky as I don’t think he was getting much milk after 2 hours there’s no way. also just found out I was pregnant!! so I had a girls weekend planned. He went to bed with dad with a cows milk sippy cup no fuss at all. So I came back and we slowly stopped. We stopped night feeds and then naps. (All within a few days: less then a week) He is sleeping better, napping better. It’s only been a few weeks and of course will still ask for it. But I give him a cup of milk. And tell him the boobie milk is all gone.

@Sara I have not heard of this! Will deffo give it a go!

@Samantha so so difficult isn't it! She was like that when she was younger, we finally started getting more than an hours sleep in a row when she hit 13 months, and she started getting down a lot quicker, like 20 mins of feeding and straight down. It's been the past few weeks that the amount of time has picked up again so maybe it is something to do with that regression? Also thunkinf maybe it tastes different or is slightly slower flow as I'm pregnant but I'm not sure? Fingers crossed she starts going down easier again! Definitely my biggest worry with number 2 in the mix!

@Tessa I wasn't hoping to fully stop feeding her, I still like the connection ans her getting the benefits of the milk (for now) but it's just the amount of time!! I know we are going to have to try her with a bottle of milk of some kind though as I already know I'm going to be in hospital for 5 days when I give birth. How did yours get on with different milk in a cup?
