C section or vbac

I had an emergency c section in September after a week long failed induction (only got to 2cm even on hormone drip). I still don't think i could go through with a c section unless it was emergency and I had too (somthing about willingly doing it makes me feel panicked and worried I'd freak out - if it's emergency then I have no choice which is weirdly easier). Is vbac likely to go well? I only got to 2cm so worry my body wouldn't do it again... anyone else had emergency c section after not progress much and the success vbac?

Same thing happened to me for my first i only got to 2 on the drip then had a c section as baby heart rate dropped. Second time round i had 3 sweeps - i kept going to MAC to check as my pains were unbearable, i had a sweep friday then the following Friday i got to 7cm dilated all at home, BUT only had to end up in theatre because baby wasnt co operating on monitor only found out later he pooped inside me lol. If i didnt end up on theatre i would have given birth vaginally only on gas and air .

My sister in law had emergency section with her first and then had 2 successful vbacs after I think it’s how your body respond and if you go into labour naturally or if you need to be induced. I assume you’ll now have consultant appointments with the emergency section I would speak to them and raise your concerns they’ll be able to give the best advice. I had exactly the same with my first failed induction with hormone drip and had an emergency c section. I had a different outlook on it with my second I was so worried about the same thing happening again and resulting in the emergency section I chose elective and it was honestly a great experience I was in theatre for 9am and home by dinner time the next day it was so calm and I felt great after because there was no urgency in it

You're risk of c section increases by like 45% if you're induced. If you can avoid induction do.

My doctor told me because I wouldn’t dilate with my first that I was most likely gonna do the same thing and that a planned C-section is way better then an emergency C-section. I had a planned one with my second and I definitely was very nervous and scared but it went okay!

I had an emergency c section Jan 24 at 39+6 due to preeclampsia and babies heart rate etc. barely progressed at all, had all the interventions before section and nothing made me progress. (Far too many unsuccessful vaginal exams checking lol) I had a VBAC Feb 25 at 35+3 after going into random labour. Went to hospital at 8pm and apparently wasn’t in labour after having what I thought was Braxton hicks all day, got sent home, went back at 3am and was 7cm along! Slowed a little bit towards the end and resulted in an episiotomy and forceps as babies heart rate went really really low, got him out very quick after that. We had a planned Section booked, despite the awful episiotomy recovery, I’m so glad I didn’t have to have a section and heal from that with a toddler at home. Also, same as you, the thought of planning and going in for surgery terrifies me and I was so nervous about it! My consultants were great and didn’t make me choose either way. X

Also, when I went into labour and got admitted, I was offered if I wanted to have a section then or continue to see if I progressed naturally etc. I think at any point I could’ve said right now I don’t feel Comfortable let’s go for a section and they would’ve taken that into account xx

I ended up with a c section in August last year due to a very long labour which lead to baby's oxygen levels dropping. Like you, I was induced and I think if I had been able to go into labour on my own I would have been able to deliver naturally. I think inductions play a huge part in the outcome of your labour. If I were to get pregnant again I'd hate the idea of a scheduled c section, but I honestly think I'd take that over being induced again! If I could avoid induction I'd definitely attempt a vbac!

I started naturally with my first and managed to get to 3cm then 6/7cm (with help and after a long time) ending in an emergency section. My second, the drs were trying to talk me into an elective but I wasn't convinced it was for me/really wanted a vbac luckily I went into labour early and managed a natural vbac. It's such a difficult decision to make and if my second had been on time/late for the same reasons as you I probably would have ended up going elective. The drs make very convincing arguments but no matter what happened at your first your second can be completely different, but you can only do what feels right for you at the time x
