This is a hard one. I HAD to have a scheduled c-section after an emergency one because I had Complete Placenta Previa. If you’re not high risk, I would try for the VBAC. I liked picking out my daughter’s birthday & not spontaneously going into labor, but sometimes I wish I could have done the VBAC.
@Rosalie I think I'm lowkey scared of the pain endured in a vaginal birth.
An epidural would be your bestie lol.
I'm in the same position. I have severe PTSD from my first, ended in emergency C section. The trauma of recovery was awful too! The midwife just assumed I want a planned section but I was thinking if a VBAC would be an easier recovery. But at the same time what if I go through even more trauma ended in another emergency section?! Such a difficult decision to make 😭
I had an emergency section with my first, due to complications with baby, I opted for an elective section with my second, I felt like I would be really worried and stressed something would go wrong again in labour which would t be good for me or baby x
I wanted a vbac SO BADLY, I got my hopes up and ended up with a c-section. I’d say still plan a c-section date but go forth with a vaginal if possible!
@Chantelle I completely understand you. I ended up with really bad post partum depression from the failed induction and emergency c-section. And I feel like I'm more worried / nervous about delivery this time around than the first, from the trauma endured.
Can you share some details of the failed induction and why that happened for the first time. Still think VBAC is worth it considering the success rate for second time is more
I had an emergency c-section after failed induction with my first and then had a VBAC with my second, 20 months later. If I had to do it a third time, I would 100% go with a vaginal birth. Aside from quicker healing, I felt like I had more control which was a big deal for me.
I just had a VBAC. My first was a csection due to failed induction. Go for the VBAC. It was an amazing experience and the recovery is so much better.
It’s 100% a personal decision but I was in the same situation as you and chose to go for the elective. I’m SO happy with my decision - it was an amazing experience, so calm and straightforward. It really healed the trauma from my first. They were pushing me toward VBAC and I’m really happy I stood my ground and went with the c-section.
I am praying for a vbac after an emergency section with my first 🤞🏻
@Aanchal I wasn't able to dialate past 6 cm. The nurses tried various methods and they failed. After almost 2 days being induced, ended up with an emergency c-section
I've had natural births no med with tearing and a C-section and I would NEVER choose a major surgery over something the body does naturally!! Yeah HELL NO, you couldn't pay me a million dollars to have an elective C-section 🤣

@Tiffany Unless you had no choice due to having complications. There was no way my daughter could have been born safely if I had, had a VBAC. Most people would never choose a scheduled c-section, but it’s sometimes necessary.
Ugh. My first was a c-section… and 6 years later I wanted to try a VBAC. I ended up going in labor 10 days before due date, and my body was making me have to push even thou I tried no too because I was only 5 cm and I ended up rupturing and needed an emergency c-section. I was bleeding so much 😭 Me and baby are doing great though! (He’s gunna be 15 months soon, and thriving!) I heard very successful stories of women doing vaginal birth after a c-section. I just wanted to let you know my story because I experienced it and that’s all I know about the whole situation
@Katie obviously I had no choice in mine. I'm speaking of an elective C-section because someone's just afraid of birth- I see that question a lot on here and it blows my mind that anyone would consider it when they COULD have a normal birth.
My c section actually wasn’t that bad I was up and moving with little to no pain in a day so I’m kinda stuck on what I want to do also
@Tiffany and I do understand that, but all births are “natural” lol.
@Katie if you want to have a pissing contest, fine. But typically, the term 'natural ' in the context of birth means vaginal and/or without pain medication.
@Tiffany nobody’s trying to have a pissing context lol, relax. 😌
@Katie I'm nothing but relaxed, despite the comments. You seem kind of antagonistic
@Tiffany whatever makes you feel better lol
@Katie the 'lols' and emojis are blatantly being snide and catty. It's immature at best
@Tiffany it honestly sounds like you’re projecting. Now please stop commenting back. I have a life 😂
VBACs are more and more common nowadays, and doing so would avoid another cascade of interventions ❤️ Vaginal birth recovery is much easier on your body, I’ve heard, from women who have had both.
