C-section pain relief

Do they offer any pain relief during the c-section given the anaesthetic? Also, I was told they'd prescribe medication in hospital things to take home, what options were you guys given? I feel like general paracetamol/ibuprofen will do nothing!

I got sent home with a weeks worth of dihydrocodeine and to take ibuprofen as and when as well

Everyone is different but by the time you go home (2-3 days later) you might be surprised that ibo and paracetamol is enough! It might not be as bad as you think! I found it not too bad xxx good luck :)

They will give dihydrocodeine which is much strong pain relief along with that they will also give paracetamol/ibuprofen to take alternatively when you are at home. I was also worried thinking that general paracetamol will not wrong specially after such a major surgery but was surprised to know that they don’t provide anything more for taking at home, and also heard that most of the woman gets better with these medicines only. But ofcourse if all these pain reliefs doesn’t work for you then you can definitely ask for more stronger one. Then they will decide and give you accordingly. But generally paracetamol/ibuprofen is what they give to everyone.

I was given diclofenac (strong ibuprofen) and then just normal paracetamol! I think I had the diclofenac for about 7-10 days, and then I went on to normal ibuprofen.

I was offered a numbing injection for the cannula but I didn’t want it. You get a numbing injection for the spinal (which honestly, doesn’t hurt at all so don’t fear that), they will ask if you want a suppository during the op, say yes. It’s 24 hours of pain relief and it makes everything easier. In hospital I got regular combinations for dihydrocodeine (safe for breastfeeding), 400mg ibuprofen, paracetamol and senna tablets. I was over a form of morphine at night if I wanted it but didn’t need it. When sent home I was given a week of dihydrocodeine, paracetamol, 400mg ibuprofen and senna tablets.

I had dihydrocodeine, paracetamol ams ibuprofen in the hospital ( I was in for 5 days ) then I also got sent home with a box of paracetamol and dihydrocodeine. I only took the paracetamol and little did I know but the dihydrocodeine was making me hallucinate it was that strong 🤣 Good luckkkkkkkk ♡

I’ll be honest though, I only took the codeine for 3/4 days and was off everything after a week. Ive had sections twice and neither time was I in bad pain, just discomfort.

I went home with no pain relief. Just had what I needed in hospital at that was it. I think you might be surprised, I’ve had two sections and managed took ibuprofen etc if needed but I wasn’t in any real pain.x

I was given Tramadol and Dihydrocodeine in the hospital and they sent me home with Dihydrocodeine and told me to take ibuprofen and paracetamol if needed xx

I had paracetamol for 3 days then nothing

Straight after my c section while I was still in theatre they gave me a diclofenac suppository to help with post op pain. In hospital I was offered paracetamol and dihydrocodeine. I had two doses of morphine whilst I was in the hospital when my pain was really bad and then discharged with dihydrocodeine and advised to take that with paracetamol and ibuprofen

Every person and every hospital is different. I am absolutely rubbish with pain so knew I would need a lot of pain relief. My hospital gave me diclofenac in theatre and on the ward i was given oramorph, dihydrocodeine, paracetamol and ibuprofen. I was sent home with 3 days worth of the latter 3. Had to ask GP for more dihydrocodeine and I took that for a couple of weeks i think.

I had the sepository they put in straight after surgery which is a strong antiinflamitory. They gave me paracetamol and I found as soon as the spinal wore off this was not enough. They gave me oramorph and diahydracodine. For me it just made it so I wasn't crying in agony and was just in pain. They really messed my pain management up though due to lack of staffing. I was in 3 days because they wouldn't let me leave while on oramorph. I also had buscipan for the wind pain and lactulose to help me poop (that took 4 days) I left with 14 days worth of dyahydracodine got paracetamol, ibprophine and lactulose on the way home.

You have a local anesthetic injection before the spinal during the surgery, I couldn't feel the spinal go in at all. I was given Dihydrocodeine as a stronger pain killer but only enough for 3 days ish including the day I was in hospital (if you want to breastfeed make sure it's this and not codeine they give you). Then paracetamol and ibuprofen. Honestly I found the paracetamol and ibuprofen plenty enough just alternate between the two so you aren't going as long between pain meds. In hospital they give you all your pain meds together so only give them every 6 hours.
