My doctors do it at 8 week jabs
Hey there, based in Leeds and had my 8 weeks appointment on Monday. Two things I asked : 1. Driving- am I legally allowed to drive now? Doctor says there is no law on when to start driving after PP, i had a CS. As long as you are fit, your incession does not hurt and seemed healed and would withstand a sudden emergency break, then youre good. 2. Can I start to go running? Doctor pretty much said the same as number 1. Start with shorter distances and be patient as the phase and speed will not automatically go back what it was before giving birth. Doctor advised no to weight lifting though. Going back to number 1, it is important however for the insurance to know the change in your circumstances just to cover yourself incase of any unforeseen events. They will always try and find a loophole to avoid covering for you. I hope this helps!
Mine also did checks at 8 weeks with first jabs
I also had it at 8 weeks jabs
Every women should have a postnatal check up - usually we do this at your baby's 6-8 week check. With regards to driving, there is no set rule. Usually it's around 6 weeks but might be a bit before, you need to feel comfortable enough to be able to do an emergency stop should you need to. With regards to exercise, take it slowly. A C-section is major surgery. It's a very individual thing though. If you feel you need to be seen before your postnatal check-up, make an appointment to discuss things with a GP.
I've had a 6 week appointment after both births at the same time as a 6 week check of baby. But neither time they have given me the 'all clear' on anything. They just ask about contraception and how I am. Most of the appointment is checking baby over. I brought up in this last appointment that I was already driving and she said it was fine and to just trust my body on when I felt up to it.
Seems to vary by area - some don’t do them, some combine them with LO’s 8 week jabs, some do them by phone…
