@Beth awww bless him😩 my boy has reflux, used to be silent but now he’s constantly bringing his milk up all the time now the last few weeks😩 I also suspected cmpa with my boy but we’re still on normal milk. He does drink quite quick tbh, I pace feed him too, it’s so stressful really scares me feeding him when I’m alone 😭
It's awful. I remember that night like the back of my hand I was alone too 😫. Have you considered thickener? Or isn't it happening that often? I wish I'd have thickened it sooner because of the ordeal that he went through as it was every bottle, but tbf it's annoying introducing something else. My friend's little one coughs at the start of the bottle, but seems to be ok and still continues. My baby started to get really wary and stressed at the bottle and he dropped like half his feeds 🥲 it was a lot of effort getting it right and him to trust it again x
@Beth I have tried carobel but he had a really bad stomach from that😩 I did get given baby gaviscon from the gp too for his reflux but I was reluctant to try that due to it causing constipation🤦🏽♀️ what thickner do you use? It’s a whole whirlwind isn’t it x
So yeh it's a shame that introducing one thing can cause another issue. We didn't have issues with carobel so luckily we stuck to that. We also didn't have issues with gaviscon we just stopped using it as it didn't work. I've heard magic mix is meant to be good option for babies that haven't been able to tolerate carobel. Only problem is it's French and apparently tricky to get hold of 😫 . What about looking at those infant cereals like a baby rice or porridge. I'm not 100% sure but think I saw a video of someone thickening with that advised by their paed. It was America though, you could research into that xx
@Beth ahhh thank you lovely!! I will have a look into it xx
Yes mine, he's 6 months now and has coughed and spluttered from birth. It's been a really stressful experience and he ended up with a bottle aversion which we think was because of it (also has CMPA and reflux). Not sure why it took us so long to act and use thickener but we were just trialing different teats. He ended up on 1+ month natural response teats that are vari flow so they're none drip and he just takes what he needs. It's ok for now but as he gets older I'm worried he will become frustrated by it. I think some babies just have either a really efficient, strong suck and they can't swallow quickly enough, or the coordination isn't great. What happened to you happened to us when we have him his medicine and it was so scary. He went limp and was exhausted afterwards. Does your babe drink quickly?
