Breastmilk storage

Hello! Hope all you mamas are coping okay! I just wanted to get some advice on storing and using breastmilk, there’s a lot of conflicting advice on the internet so I wanted to see what is working for people.. At the moment I pump and put it straight in the freezer for room temp as I only use the milk when I’m out and about - should I be putting it in the fridge first then the freezer? When I take it out I put it into a jug of boiled water to defrost then put it in the bottles and a bottle bag - how long after can I be using it until? I was using general rule of thumb of use within 4 hours and once baby has some, use within the hour but I’m not sure this is right.. I’ve found my baby spits up / vomits more when bottle fed the milk but I’m not sure if this is because he’s drinking too much.. TIA

I go off the NHS website. You can store breast milk in the fridge for up to 8 days if your fridge is cold enough which it probably is. Then you don’t really need to freeze it. If not sure of fridge temp, try putting baby room thermometer in there x

If I think I’m not going to use it for a while then that’s when I put it in the freezer. I like to have a stash x

I have been putting mine in fridge as well because I know it’ll be used within the 8 days. It doesn’t sound like you are doing anything wrong though

Look up pace feeding for ebf babies if you haven’t already x

@Christie do you put the freezer ones directly in? X

@Herbi how are you carrying it?

Yeah directly in to the freezer. Don’t think it needs to stay in the fridge first x
