Is he growing in-line with his percentile or is he dropping percentiles? My LO was only 4.37KG at 10 weeks x

She is following but line is not straight it's slowly dipping

Mine is 10 weeks and was a slow weight gainer as well. His birth weight was 3.47kg and last Friday he was at 4.23kg. What I had started doing then was feeding him from both sides (before I was doing one side at each feed) and it does takes now 40-50min for him to finish. He also gets one bottle of formula before sleep now. Well, yesterday I took him to the clinic and he was at 4.44kg! Finally some progress!

@Saloma that's a wonderful news, well done

A slow gainer is a slow gainer, you won't change your milk with your diet and make her gain faster unfortunately! My baby is 6 months old on Monday and was 5.19kg last week. Every baby grows at their own rate and as long as they are developing and having plenty of wet and dirty nappies you're ok. My baby was born 25th percentile. We had a rough start feeding, she dropped to 0.4th and she stayed there. As long as they are following their own line and developing.

We went to the 6 week check up recently and our baby hasn't gained as fast as they'd hoped, the GP made me really worried. I spoke with a lactation consultant and she said that the weight graph in the red book is based on formula fed babies and not breast fed like my little boy and so don't often follow the same trajectory. Advice from a local feeding group I went to was for my latch to be deeper so my little boy wasn't working as hard for the milk which can burn calories. Also towards the end of a feed or when baby starts doing the little fluttering with their mouth, squeeze your boob with the same side hand to help get out the fattier milk (don't need to do it at the beginning especially if you have a fast let down). Might be worth popping to a local feeding group if you have one or ringing your Health Visitor? You'll be doing a fabulous job. So long as everything else is ok with baby, they seem happy and having wet/dirty nappies then they should be ok and will gain weight in their own time 🙌🏽 x
