What am I doing wrong?!

I'm getting desperate ... My baby boy is 16 months old and for the past few nights has been waking up during the night and not being able to get him to fall back asleep for 2 straight hours, after which he's apparently exhausted and falls to sleep. We do co-sleeping since he was 3 months old and I do breastfeed him. It has all been qorking quiet well for us up until recently, although has always been waking few time per night to breastfeed, apparentlh I got used to it. But now, he complains when he wakes up, doesn't settle with the breast, can't be calmed by caressing him or singing or whatever, clearly shows doesn't want to be touched. Only wants me to get up and walk with him around, doesn't cry but stays most of the time with his eyes wide open. Can't find a comfortable position in my hands either as he constantly wants to change position. Every time when I try to put him back to bed, he wakes up (if he's fallen asleep) and starts complain that he wants up. Doesn't even want to be walked only in the room, shows me with his hand the door that he wants in the hall. I literally don't know what am I doing wrong!!! I'm getting exhausted as on top, I'm his only carer during the day and night, so when not sleeping, I'm not a normal human being during the day either. It's getting to me. I don't know what to do ... What am I doing wrong?!? 🤕

Ok upon first reading your description, I wonder if he’s getting enough of a nap(s) or too much sleep in the day. This can cause split nights. My Lo went through the same thing around the 14-16 month age I’m pretty sure

I’m really sorry. It’s very hard on a person when they start doing this. I remember feeling like a zombie. But I’m positive it was due to something with the naps or it was a regression at this age.

@Jadie he does 1 nap per day, usually around 2 hours long (if I'm in bed with him, if I'm not - he wakes up in about an hour and I have to go back in bed with him). Today he made a 2hrs40mins nap, but I think it's bexause he needed to recuperate, as the last couple of nights have been as I've described above, so believe he was very tired, hence why made a longer nap.

does he cry/whine? does he seem tired? my sons will be 2 next month so he’s a little older but he’ll try to do this sometimes and i just tell him he can go but IM going back to bed 😂😂😂. (he doesn’t wanna go without me). He’s also been on one nap for a while now but he’ll only sleep usually an hour occasionally two but not usually. And he goes to bed at 7:30-8 and wakes up with the sun 😭

What time does he wake, nap and go to bed?
