Some little ones wean sooner than others. I'm still BF my little one and it's definitely helped us get through teething and illnesses when she's gone off her food. For the record she absolutely loves food and will happily go without a breastfeed all day if I'm not with her. I thought she would be off the boob by 12 months but I realised that's because that's what society expects. Emma Pickett posts some really good tips and advicd on her Instagram about natural term breastfeeding and weaning x
Still breastfeeding my 20 month old. When I'm at work, she will accept toddler formula milk and sometimes cows milk. Having been at home for the past 2 weeks on Easter break, she has primarily wanted boob and seems to have had an aversion to foods that she used to gobble down. Yesterday I did manage to give her a bottle of formula whilst I read a book to her. She's waking at least twice in the night still for feeds. I am also wondering how to come to a stop and I know it's really important to maintain physical contact and connection, hence me cuddling and reading to her whilst she had a bottle. I believe you should start with dropping the day feeds and then progress to dropping night feeds (not entirely sure how that will work!) I think it will be a long journey but I definitely want to start that journey now as I'd like some space, especially at night!
@Charlotte I’m currently one week in to our Easter break and he’s feeding constantly and is also not eating foods that he would normally have! It’s been a struggle to get him to eat anything past breakfast tbh. My boy doesn’t have formula and gags at cows milk (will drink it happily at nursery of course 🙄) so that’s not an option for us unfortunately. We are lucky in that he doesn’t wake for feeds unless he’s ill or teething which he has been for the past 3 weeks so I’m hoping that once it passes, he will go back to normal. His poos have been very yellow too! 😂
They do wean as as their understanding come.better it isn't hard to stop really I'm.still breast feeding my 20 month old. He'll feed often he'll be fine if I ain't around but if I'm around he'll want it he he's feeling over welmed why we are out and about he'll try to help himself and his melt downs can be intense if he don't get it. At min he's currently breastfeeding to sleep.but I've ad friends do it until 3 and then told them their too big and it all gone or the booby poorly and it took days for their children to grasp it and stop. My son wake up too 10 times a night to feed and go bk to sleep and throught out nap.will sleep with it in his mouth
I will follow the advice as I am still breastfeeding my 18-month-old and planning to stop because she has stopped eating her food like she used to, and she's wants more milk than food..
